Due to the huge spike in popularity of the highlighting trend in the past 12 months (and we don’t see it going away any time soon), the sheer number of highlighters, illuminators and strobing products on the market can make it hard to hunt down the perfect one for you, especially if you have fair skin. This is where the Internet comes in handy. We recently discovered the double use of a purple colour corrector as a great highlighting option for fair skin, but if you’re trying to find the Holy Grail fair skin highlighting product, a Reddit user by the name of style704 has done all the hard work for you.
The user posed the question: “I am having a hard time finding a highlighter that won’t blend right into my [pale] skin. I have a total of 5 in my collection currently: one from Becca, three from Ulta and Benefit Watts Up. I’m hoping someone can recommend me a highlighter that I can actually see on my skin, that will give some definition to my round face, any suggestions?”
These are the products that people were raving about in response:
Users were quick to recommend Jeffree Star’s Skin Frost in Ice Cold. This formula is known for being super pigmented, with user sambuxo explaining, “I am so so pale, I struggled with finding a highlighter that didn’t look ridiculous on my face. However Jeffree Star’s Ice Cold is my Holy Grail highlighter now. I bought it in January, I’ve used it everyday since and I haven’t even made a dent in the product! I honestly couldn’t recommend it enough!” Anastasia Beverly Hills Glow Kit in Aurora and Moonchild also received glowing praise. “Pale redhead here, I really like Aurora and Moonchild glow kits from Anastasia. I have neutral undertones,” says Reddit user queenlolipopchainsaw. While neither of these products are budget buys, they are cult brands that Reddit users can’t get enough of.
The most popular pharmacy buys were Maybelline Master Contour by Face Studio in Light/Medium, as well as e.l.f Baked Highlighter in Moonlight Pearls. Plus, a sneaky trick was also shared in the Reddit forum: try doubling a shimmery single shade eyeshadow as your highlighter.
If you’re all about that lit-from-within glow, here’s three ways to ensure your highlighter looks natural and radiant.
