3 ways to get fuller-looking brows
The solutions to add definition to your arches
For such a small patch of hair, it can be seriously technical making brows look their best. On the market, there are eyebrow gels to groom stray hairs in place, brow powders to fill in any gaps, even pomades that fuse the two products together. But what about when you want to make your arches look thicker and more dense, even when you’re guilty of over-plucking? Here, discover three different ways to achieve thicker-looking brows (with believable and natural-looking results!), even when you’re lacking hair throughout your arches.
With a brow tint
Surprisingly, a professional brow tint can visually enhance the depth of your brows. Here’s why: “Brow tinting is a great way to immediately obtain a fuller, thicker brow,” says Hannah Terrett, National Brow Artist for Benefit Australia. “This simple service helps to lift the desired fullness from the brow by adding semi-permanent shadow to the fluffy ‘peach fuzz’ hairs surrounding the shape.”
With a brow gel
If you can’t get to a brow appointment to tint your arches, try this technique instead. “Using Make Up For Ever Aqua Brow (with a tiny bit of Maybelline New York Eyestudio Lasting Drama Gel Pot Liner), I draw individual hairs with a brush like Rae Morris Jishaku #16 Brow Definer Brush,” explains makeup artist Sarah Laidlaw. “The reason I prefer this technique is because you can still see the skin behind the brow hairs so it looks naturally thick and full, rather than a heavy slab of colour.”
With a brow pencil
If you find a brow gel tricky to use, go with a brow pencil instead. Hannah Terrett explains, “With a micro-fine pencil like Benefit’s Precisely, My Brow Pencil, use a flicking motion with your wrist to mimic the illusion of natural-looking hair-like strokes. Then, set the look with a layer of Benefit Gimme Brow Volumising Eyebrow Gel to add extra thickness and body.”
