If the most recent international fashion weeks are anything to go by, it’s that sexy, glossy textures are back. “I think we are really embracing colour this summer and gloss layered over colour makes lips look luxurious and luscious,” says Carol Mackie, MAC Senior Artist. “On the eyes, it gives an almost sporty look and adds a healthy sheen to the skin on cheekbones.” Embrace the texture by applying your gloss as a highlight on eyelids, mixing with colour to add a three-dimensional jolt of colour, and layering onto lips for a healthy-looking gleam - the possibilities are endless.
Try: Gloss on lips
For Chanel’s SS17 show, the lips were the star of the show, with models wearing a bright red glossy lip colour that had a glossy sheen to it.
Try: Gloss on eyes
International makeup artist Tom Pecheux lined eyes with a dark kohl pencil and applied a clear gloss over the top to create a three-dimensional smoky eye at the Balmain SS17 show.
Try: Gloss on cheeks, eyes and lips
Looking for a more natural finish? Copy the look from the Moncler SS17 show by adding a clear gloss over all your features.
Try: Gloss on cheeks
Swap your powder highlighter for a dewy lightweight base that mimics a healthy lit-from-within glow, as seen at the Giorgio Armani SS17 show.
Try: Gloss on lips
At the Versace SS17 show, the makeup was pared right back with a white highlight featured on the inner corners of the eyes and a glossy lip to match.
