Wearing eyeliner doesn’t always require a steady hand; in fact, etching along your top or bottom lash line (or in some cases, both) with a soft coloured pencil just requires a little concentration. And now that spring is here, it’s the perfect time to experiment with a colour other than black or brown. Go on, we dare you.
Colour to try: Electric blue
Take a leaf out of Sarah Hyland’s book and make brown eyes pop with a flick of electric blue along your bottom lash line, and continue extending until you have created a winged liner look.
Colour to try: Teal
Rachel McAdams’ teal eyeliner on her top and bottom lash line is a great substitute for black as it adds a touch of fun to a dressy occasion (like the Academy Awards).
Colour to try: Gold
Who knew that lining your bottom lash line with a golden colour could look so chic? Add a touch of glam to a black and white outfit like Kristen Stewart by experimenting with metallic shades.
Colour to try: Grey
Dark, matte grey (as seen on Jennifer Lopez) is the perfect way to ease into trying a new eyeliner colour if your go-to is usually black. Not only is it much softer, it’s also universally flattering, and suits all hair and eye colours.
Colour to try: Pink
Nothing says “hello warm weather!” like the colour pink. Copy model Stella Maxwell’s look by lining around your eyes with a soft pink pencil, and smudging with your pinky finger for a smoky effect.
Colour to try: Lilac
Brie Larson’s lilac-lined eyes are what we’re coveting right now. Not only is it super pretty and easy to wear, it’s also a nice colour that can pop against a bright lip without being overbearing.
