Beauty Crew Contributing Editor / August 28 2020

It’s easy to fall into the routine of wearing your hair and makeup the same - day in and out. Hey, if it works then why mess with it? While we agree to an extent, we also can’t help but remind you that the world of beauty is a wonderful place for creativity, experimentation and pushing your comfort zone. That’s why each season when new trends emerge, there’s no better time to challenge yourself to try something new. You never know, it may just become your new go-to, signature look, or the shade that flatters your skin tone like nothing ever has before!

Being at the forefront of the beauty game, Priceline Pharmacy know all about the latest products, colours and formulas that are coming onto the market before even we do sometimes, so it’s no surprise that they know how to forecast the next big thing. Festival of Beauty is back in 2018 and they’ve highlighted the below as the six beauty trends that are going to be everywhere this Autumn/Winter 2018. Plus they’ve outlined exactly how you can master each and every one of them.

So read up, start practicing and stock up your kit!

Makeup Trend #1 / Glossy Skin

Great skin will always be your best beauty accessory, but in winter a little extra glow will go a long way to breathing life into a dull un-sunkissed complexion. The finish to aim for this season is glossy. It’s minimal but still noticeable, and unlike highlighting which is targeted, aim for an organic, all-over healthy sheen. Top tip: Don’t forget your eye lids, brows and Cupid’s bow when going glossy.

Makeup Trend #2 / Graphic Colour

For some reason, colour tends to head off on holiday whenever winter sets in. But this season it has a reason to stick around. The graphic colour trend heroes the boldest and brightest of hues in the most striking of ways. Although, if daring is not your cup of tea, you’ll be happy to know this trend has various intensity levels to suit every comfort zone: Dial it back to just a thick coloured eyeliner top and bottom if you want to ease yourself in. THE colour of the season? Teal.

Makeup Trend #3 / Triple Pink

If you have a fear of pink because you think it comes off too girly, it’s time to get over your phobia because this popular colour is here to stay. A trend that’s been trickling into your beauty kit over the past few seasons, now it’s going next level with a triple-threat approach. And instead of feeling overly feminine, you’ll be pleasantly surprised to know its letting off seriously sultry vibes. The way to wear the triple pink trend is in tonal hues across your entire makeup palette – on the eyes, cheeks and lips. It will warm up the complexion as we head into the colder months, and contrasts beautifully with a muted winter wardrobe.

Hair Trend #1 / Asymmetric Knots

For fans of the failsafe topknot, this is its edgier sister. And the best part, it doesn’t call for finesse – this hairstyle looks best when asymmetric and dishevelled. Hello, winter sleep-ins! You can style this updo on clean, glossy hair or second-day tresses, and even those with shorter hair can get in on the look with a half-up version.

Hair Trend #2 / Wet Look

Low-maintenance hair lovers rejoice! It doesn’t get much easier than the wet look. Autumn/Winter ‘18s version has a deep side part and subtle movement through the lengths. Think hair that looks wet but not sopping, with a raked-through texture.

If you’re looking for maximum impact with the added bonus of minimal effort, this is the hair trend for you. Basically a simple low ponytail in disguise, with a twisted and bound bun through the lengths, this is a hairstyle for any novice or in-a-rush gal. But…you do need to have mid to long hair to get the full effect.
