Fake lashes can work some pretty incredible miracles on those who don't have a full flutter of natural lashes. An effortless (or at least, once you master the technique) way of framing your gaze, they can take your eye makeup to the next level.
And the best bit is you can do it yourself for minimal money, and you don't have to commit to anything semi-permanent (like you do with eyelash extensions), so you can change your lash look with your mood.
The truth is, you can’t beat the versatility of false lashes: you can add length, fill in gaps and transform sparse lashes, accentuate different areas of your eyes, try different styles, create next-level fullness and depth, or go all out with feather falsies, glitter lashes and every colour under the sun.
And, despite what you might think, they *can* give you a natural look - dramatic lashes aren't their only M.O. You just need to shop around for the good ones.
To help get you started, we've found eight of the best false eyelashes in Australia. FYI, we actually recommend investing in a few of them - a false lash wardrobe lets you chop and change depending on the look you're going for.
Huda Beauty Noelle Faux Mink Lash

EYLURE Exaggerate Lashes No. 140
Sure, natural lashes are fine and dandy, but sometimes you just want an XL lash look that’ll define your eyes like nobody’s business. Well, these delightfully dark, super full, perfectly curled outer-corner-enhancing falsies are just that; when they say 'Exaggerate' they mean it.

Tarte Tarteist™ PRO Cruelty-Free Girl Boss Lashes
Prefer a wide-eyed look over a winged effect? These Tarte strips are longer in the middle to open up the eye and make you look wide awake. They’re not lacking in the length or layer departments though, so expect a statement vibe.

ModelRock Fiercely Amplified False Lashes
They might not be ideal for application newbies, but if you’re handy with a pair of tweezers, these invisible-band lashes will work a treat. Not only are they made from 100 per cent natural human hair (so look legit) but the value of this 5-for-$25 pack is hard to beat.

Ardell Natural Demi Wispies
These fluttery delights are a lash lover’s go-to for good reason – they steer clear of ‘obvious’ territory in favour of a fluffy but believable finish that looks like your lashes, only better.

Mecca Cosmetica False Lashes Enhancing
After an in-between natural-glam look? Give these wispy guys a whirl. They start subtle and flare outward to elongate the eye without giving overwhelming in-your-face (or rather, at your browbone-level) volume.

OneFigure Beauty Chloe Magnetic Eyelashes
This set favours a separated look that blends beautifully with your natural lashes while also taking your eyes to 'Bambi' level real fast. They also happen to be magnetic, so you don't even have to mess around with glue; just swipe on the matching liner and stick away.
