Just a list of some of the cutest hair accessories around at the moment
It’s time to get in on summer’s biggest hair trend

Just when you thought you had left your headband and hair clip days back in primary school, the cyclical nature of trends has deemed them cool again (and now appropriate for grown-ups to wear). Yep, bobby pins, claw clips, snap clips, barrettes, slides, and Alice bands are back, and this time around they’re more modern and chicer than you could have ever imagined. From simple geometric shapes in gold, silver and rose gold, to pearl and crystal embellishments, and even nostalgic glitter finishes, there’s a clip or a headband to suit every occasion (yes, we reckon even a wedding) and every taste.
But more than being easy on the eye, what we love most about this hair trend is how much easier it makes life. Couldn’t be bothered to wash your hair? No worries, just brush it back into a sleek bun and finish the look with a jazzy headband or pearl snap clip. Instant polish, minimum effort. Having an arsenal of these hair accessories at the ready is also a very big plus in summer when all you want to do is wear your hair off your face, but still have it looking fresh and fun.
So where does one pick some up? Thankfully, you don’t have to look very far – clips are pretty much everywhere and are available for every budget. We’ve pulled together some of our favourites, but there are at least a million and three more brands, styles, designs, and colours out there, so consider this the starting point for your clip hunt.
CHANEL Hair Clip
We may as well kick this list off with the most covetable hair clip out there, right?
With a classic CHANEL design and a combo of metal and lambskin, the CHANEL Hair Clip screams luxury. How could you not feel a million bucks sporting this around your ponytail?!
Reliquia Meryl Headband
A pearl headband is one of the more popular hair accessory styles we’ve seen making the rounds and we can understand why. It’s simple enough to not feel too fussy but elaborate enough to wear for a special occasion.
Valet Melody Clip
Australian brand Valet was one of the first to make resin hair clips a bona fide thing, and its follow-up styles are nothing short of gorgeous, too. We love what they’ve done with the humble comb here, but if you’re more of a snap or slide clip kinda girl, you might want to trawl through the site because there are options aplenty.
ASOS Warehouse Emerald and Diamante Hair Slides
Why use a regular boring black or brown bobby pin to clip your hair back when you can use one with embellishments? Use the ASOS Warehouse Emerald and Diamante Hair Slides functionally to pin back rogue sections of hair or a fringe you’re growing out, or add them to styled hair as a fun finisher.
Husskie Square Pearl Hair Clips
Just like the pearl headband, pearl snap clips are one of the most popular styles of hair clips at the moment. Husskie has these gorgeous rectangle pearl clips as well as a classic pointed style, too. Plus, you can choose if you want them on a gold or silver base.
Pixie’s Bows Custom Letter Hair Clip
You’ve got a monogrammed phone cover, you’re putting your initials on your handbag, so why not wear a personalised hair clip, too? The Pixie’s Bows Custom Letter Hair Clip from Roxy Jacenko’s collection is possibly one of the cutest ways you can pin back a greasy fringe or style a side part.
Sportsgirl Black Velvet Padded Headband
Don’t underestimate the power of a simple black headband. Paired with a sleek bun, beautiful earrings and glowing skin, you’ve got an instant elegant look on your hands. Thankfully, Prada’s iconic version isn’t the only one you can find – this one from Sportsgirl is almost identical and is a fraction of the price.
Dolce & Gabbana Gold-Tone Crystal Hair Clip
How gorgeous is this opulent crystal barrette? You can pretty much get away with the most low-key hair and makeup so as to let the gold and crystals take centre stage. This is the kind of clip you hold onto forever and pass onto your grandkids.
Reliquia Crista Clip
If you’re looking for a little more glitz and frivolity in your hair clip collection, may we recommend this beautiful triangular jewelled clip from Reliquia? It’s not easy to strike a balance between stylish and sparkly, but this clip nails it.
Pixie’s Bows Pearl and Diamante Headband
Headbands don’t have to be thick and/or high – a dainty number like Roxy Jacenko’s Pixie’s Bows Pearl and Diamante Headband packs as much of a punch as the bulkier designs. Also, a thinner headband with adornments like this one could be the perfect option for a bride who wants to wear her hair back (à la Hilary Duff).
Orelia London Resin Hair Slide & Clip Pack
Tortoiseshell clips are to hair what the little black dress is to your wardrobe – a classic item you can turn to again and again. Do yourself a favour and get the Orelia London Resin Hair Slip & Clip Pack into your kit so you won’t be caught out during your next hair emergency.
Valet Lulu Barette in Stripe
It’s cute, it’s quirky, it’s functional – there’s not much you won’t love about the Valet Lulu Barette in Stripe. An adorable find for someone with unique style who loves an accessory!
Lelet NY Gold-Tone Pearl Hair Slides
What a way to jazz up an updo or downstyle! And even better – the Lelet NY Gold-Tone Pearl Hair Slides comes in a set of three, so you can keep it simple by using one or go all out and wear all three together to create one giant pearl cluster.
