From pretty palettes to beautiful scents for your body and home, these are the most coveted items in the Beauty Crew office this month.
CHANEL Création Exclusive Le Lion de CHANEL
Brilliantly gold in colour, CHANEL Création Exclusive Le Lion de CHANEL is truly a work of art and a collector’s edition you won’t want to miss. For those that are willing to swipe a brush across the impressive palette, you’ll be rewarded with a finely-milled powder that can brighten your complexion (it suits all skin tones) or your eyelids.
Lumira Candle in Florescence by The Royal Botanic Garden Sydney
We love seeing local collaborations come to fruition, which is why Lumira’s newest candle has caught our eye. Inspired by the beautiful gardens in the heart of Sydney, Florescence is co-created by Jimmy Turner (head horticulturist of The Royal Botanic Garden) and perfectly captures the variety of blooms that you can spot there, such as gardenia, jasmine and magnolia, as well as herbaceous basil.
Kiehl’s Youth Dose Eye Cream
Powered by a hardworking blend of pro-retinol to smooth skin, red grape seed extract to brighten and vitamin C to improve texture, Kiehl’s Youth Dose Eye Cream is cleverly engineered to target dark circles, puffiness and fine lines. Plus, the formula is lightly tinted to instantly refresh the appearance of your peepers, and can be worn during the day under makeup and at night before you sleep.
Revlon Kiss Cushion Lip Tint in Pretty Kiss and Crimson Feels
Revlon’s new Kiss Cushion Lip Tints are perfect for those that prefer a lip colour that’s easy to apply and lasts for hours ( even through a meal!). Don’t underestimate the lightweight and balmy formula: it’s packed with pigment and is totally buildable to either gently stain your smackers or be layered over and over on your lips to pack a punch.
Klorane Protective Oil with Ylang-Ylang Wax
The hero ingredient of Klorane’s newest range is ylang ylang - a flower that produces a special wax that offers protective properties against environmental aggressors like sun, sand, salt and chlorine. Beauty Crew’s Editor, Carli Alman, is a big fan of the Protective Oil. “As soon as the mercury edges to the 30s, you can pretty much be guaranteed I’ll be outdoors and swimming. Which is not always a great thing for my balayaged hair. This summer I’m going on the offensive and protecting my hair, rather than trying to fix the brassiness, dehydration and breakage that comes with my penchant for being in the sun, sand and sea. I’ve started spritzing the Protective Oil on my dry hair before I head outside on the weekend and so far, so good – my colour is looking fresh and it feels strong and healthy. But just a warning to go slow with this one: it is an oil, so too much on dry hair can leave it heavy and weighed down.”
Sportsgirl x Allen’s Eyeshadow Palette
We’re truly obsessed with this quirky and totally unexpected collaboration between Aussie fashion brand Sportsgirl and confectionary company Allen’s. This collection takes inspiration from a bag of yummy freckles, and in particular, we’ve got our eye on this palette that shows off classic shades like chocolate and caramel as well as brighter colours like pink, baby blue and aqua in matte and intensely-shimmery finishes. Our top tip is to first take one of the brown shades to create a smoky eye, then spice it up with a bright colour as an accent on the inner corners of your eyes or along the lower lash line.
Goldfield & Banks Southern Bloom
Goldfield & Banks Southern Bloom is an ode to the beautiful Tasmanian island Bruny, and is a creamy floral composition that’s a muddle of Tasmanian boronia (one of the most expensive perfume notes in the world!), Indian jasmine sambac, French cassis, Indonesian vetiver, and Italian iris. This spritz works wonderfully for women, but it’s also surprisingly addictive on men.
Raww Cosmetics Superfood Salad Green Clay Detox Mask
Over the last couple of years, we’ve seen a steady rise in skin care products featuring superfood ingredients such as acai berry and kale to improve the appearance of our complexions. The latest ingredient that has caught our eye is spinach, which is heroed to even out skin tone. You’ll find it in the new Raww Cosmetics Superfood Salad Green Clay Detox Mask, alongside kale and green tea, which combat fine lines and reduce redness.
Yves Saint Laurent Beauté Tatouage Couture The Metallics
If you’re looking for something that will help you stand out, then you can’t go past Yves Saint Laurent Beauté Tatouage Couture The Metallics. These liquid lipsticks are packed with tiny particles of glitter, and offer a cool chrome-like finish with a single swipe. We’re crushing on Red Clash, a bold rouge shade that’s classic with a twist.
Sodashi Body Brilliance Cream
It doesn’t get more luxurious than this rich body treatment from Sodashi, which smells like real vanilla (it’s so good, it smells just like icing!), along with other sensual notes of ylang ylang, patchouli and jasmine to invigorate the senses. Unwind after a long day by warming up a small dollop of the intensely-hydrating formula in your palms, then massage it into limbs to relax your muscles.
Clive Christian Original Collection No. 1 Feminine
Established in England in 1972, Clive Christian (once known as The Crown Perfumery) is one of the most prestigious fragrance brands in the world as it was commissioned by Queen Victoria to make personal scents for her and Prince Albert. Their most coveted scent, No. 1, carries 20 per cent concentration (so it’s seriously potent!), and shows off notes like Mirabelle plum, white peach, bergamot, jasmine and rose. The smallest size is 30mL and will set you back $532, but it’s definitely worth the price tag.
Liberty Belle Rx Glam Squad
Created by Dr Chris Moss and his team at the Liberty Belle Skin Centre in Melbourne, Liberty Belle Rx is a comprehensive range of skin care that ranges from cleansers, moisturisers and eye treatments that are infused with active ingredients and Australian botanics to improve skin health. One product in particular is on high rotation for Beauty Crew’s Contributing Beauty Writer, Erin Docherty. “My skin has a tendency to be super dry and annoying, and it can be hard to find a product that’ll keep it hydrated for more than, like, a minute. This is why Glam Squad is my new best friend – it’s the perfect little moisturising booster that not only makes your skin feel smooth, glowing and comfortable, but the hydration hit *actually* lasts.”
O&M Desert Dry
As we become increasingly time-poor, we’re constantly on the hunt for multitasking products that can shave time off our beauty prep. Enter O&M’s Desert Dry - a dry shampoo and texturising spray hybrid that can soak up excess oils and boost volume, all thanks to ingredients like lilly pilly and quandong. The result is hair that boasts oomph and grit - we love using it on its own but also as a finishing product after curling hair with a wand or straightener.
