Pretty to look at, excellent to use

Makeup sticks have been around for years, from the stick foundations that seem to ebb and flow in popularity, to the cheek-enhancing highlighter, blush, bronzer and double-ended contouring sticks that have started making the rounds in recent years, there is certainly no shortage when it comes to cosmetics in a wind-up stick form.
But we’ve noticed a new trend trickling through – multi-tone makeup sticks. As in, one makeup stick that features multiple colours. And while there’s no denying a multi-coloured makeup product is very pretty to look at, this new trend is actually functional, too: it saves you time.
Here are a few of our favourite multi-tone makeup sticks, and how you can use them in your daily makeup routine.
Guerlain Météorites Baby Glow Touch
Looking to up your highlighting and strobing game? The combo of these three shades may be just the trick. The pink will work to pep up your complexion, the mauve will reflect the light, and the white instantly illuminates. Simply swipe the stick on your cheekbones, down the bridge of your nose, under your brow bone, and above your Cupid’s bow, and use a makeup brush to blend it all together.
Yves Saint Laurent Kiss & Blush Vice Versa
With six different two-toned combos in the range, this pocket-friendly lip and cheek duo is perfect for a lightly stained finish. Swipe on as is for an ombre look, or use your finger to blend the colours together for a seamless finish.
Mirenesse 1-Step Contour Stick! Shona Art Collection
Can’t quite wrap your head around contouring? Then this tri-tone face stick may be just what you need to ease into the trend. Featuring an ombre design, all you need to do is position the stick towards your temple with the lightest shade on your cheekbone and the darkest shade at the bottom, and swipe down following your bone structure. The darkest shade should be deposited in the hollow of your cheek. Then, grab a medium-density powder brush and blend the lines away. Done!
Smashbox Be Legendary Triple Tone Lipstick
Have a little fun with these tricoloured lipsticks and give an ombre lip look a whirl. You can try something a bit more subtle with the red and nude pictured above, or take the look to the next level with the shade Sunset, which features pink, purple and red.
If ombre lips aren’t your think, simply apply and blend the colours together.
By Terry Glow-Expert Duo Stick
Add warmth and illuminate your complexion in one easy step with this handy little sculpting stick. It comes in three shades – Amber Light for a more bronzed effect, Peachy Petal (pictured here) for a natural flush, and Terra Rosa for a rosy glow.
Benefit Cosmetics They’re Real! Double The Lip
Forget about taking two whole steps to line and fill your lips! This nifty liner-and-lipstick in one from Benefit will take care of both in one easy step. An added bonus? Having the liner colour a touch darker than the lip colour will help give the illusion of fuller lips!
