Camila Cabello uses egg whites on her face, and here's why

No yolk

If you told us Camila Cabello loves to order an egg white omelette, we wouldn’t be shocked. A) Hollywood takes health seriously, and B) that sounds delicious.

But when we got word that she has a different use for the trusty egg whites than anything that would call for a kitchen, we were certainly a tad surprised.

Yep, Cabello prefers to put her egg whites (wait for it) on her face. Wondering why? Valid. Allow us to egg-xplain. Let us have that one, okay?

Why does Camila Cabello use egg whites on her face?

We’ve all got a beauty trick or two our mums handed down to us, but Cabello’s is definitely a bit more out-of-the-box. “I don't know if this is Cuban, but my mum and I have this thing that we do. It sounds weird, but you crack open an egg and take out the yolk. Then, you put the egg white on your face and let it dry to close up your pores, then you wash it off”, she once told ELLE.

“Whenever I feel like my pores are getting big or I have blackheads, or when I get laugh lines or wrinkles from being dehydrated, it makes your skin tight. And, it's totally natural," Cabello added re: her reasoning.

Bizarre, sure, but judging by her gorgeous complexion, it’s actually pretty effective. Pore size does not seem to be a problem from the outside looking in! So hey, next time you need to press reset on your pores and you don’t have the stock/funds to do a proper face mask, allow your egg carton to come to your complexion’s aid.

Can egg whites make pores smaller?

Sort of. While nothing will really change the actual size of your pores, there are many ways to make them appear smaller and less prominent. And Cabello was right, egg whites are one of ‘em!

Egg whites are actually a natural cleansing agent that are able to clear out congestion – they deeply penetrate pores, nixing the oils and dead skin cells clogging them as they work their way through.

But while Cabello’s trick hails from her Cuban family, egg whites have long been used in K-beauty pore-reducing products, too. If you want to get in on the action while using a proper formula instead of eggs fresh from the fridge, the SKINFOOD Egg White Pore Mask ($18 at Nudie Glow) is perfect.

It heroes albumin, the pore-clearing protein found in egg whites, and works to help tighten, clean and firm your pores. Shoutout to Cabello for blessing us with this crafty hack – we’re egg-xtremely grateful. Too far, we know...
