Different ways to apply winged liner

It’s same same but different

Just like a slick of red lippie or a nude smoky eye, the winged liner look is an absolute classic and suits all eye shapes. But if you’ve tried one method or product and just can’t seem to master it, the good news is there are more ways than one to apply a winged liner. Here are five different ways you can achieve a winged liner look.

1

With eyeshadow

The easiest way to achieve a winged liner is with eyeshadow as it can be easily blended out or cleaned up with a cotton tip dipped in micellar water. Try loading a flat eyeshadow brush with NYX Hot Singles Eye Shadow and trace along your top lash line and extend the line diagonally upwards in line with your bottom lash line to create a winged finish.

2

With an eyeshadow stick

An eyeshadow stick is just like a powder eyeshadow and kohl eyeliner in one, and is another great tool to apply a winged liner look. The thick size of By Terry Stylo Blackstar allows you to use it all over your eyelid like a normal eyeshadow, but the slightly tapered tip helps draw a winged liner shape with ease, too.

3

With an eyeliner pen

One of our go-to ways to apply winged liner is with an eyeliner pen as the sharp tip makes it possible to precisely draw a straight line. New to the L’Oréal Paris family is the Super Liner Superstar, a tool that delivers just the right amount of colour without the need to press down too hard. In the long-wearing catagory, Lancôme Grandiôse Liner is a great go-to all thanks to its clever bendable handle, firm application tip and a budge-proof formula that sets in a matter of seconds.

4

With a kohl liner

Don’t have a steady hand? A kohl liner, like Rimmel London ScandalEyes Waterproof Kohl Kajal, can define your peepers without looking like you’ve spent too much time mastering the look. Etch it around your lash line and diagonally from the outer corner of your eye, then use a small fluffy brush (or your ring finger) to smudge out any harsh edges.

5

With gel liner

If you’re dexterous, try creating a winged liner look with a gel liner like shu uemura painting liner - it’s loaded with pigment that stays put all day. Apply it with a fine-tipped liner brush for a thin line, or try an angled brush for a more dramatic effect.
