The versatile off-duty model hairstyle you need in your life

Easiest off-duty hairstyle

We’re kind of obsessed

If there’s anything we love more than soaking up ALL of the beauty inspo on the runway, it’s copying those cool and nonchalant off-duty beauty looks of Hollywood’s A-lister models (we’re looking at you Kendall Jenner, Bella Hadid and Hailey Baldwin).

In addition to their ‘no makeup’ makeup perfection, we can’t get enough of their perfectly executed hairstyles. And as of late, it seems the humble half-up half-down hairstyle has become the signature go-to look for cool girls everywhere.

This casual ‘do is for when you’re looking to pull the hair out of your face while still keeping your length. Plus, it’s simple, stylish and can be dressed up or down for a bit of evening glam or effortless, laidback vibes.

Sound like your kind of fuss-free hairstyle? To help you take your off-duty hair game to the next level, we’ve rounded up a good dose of inspiration for you! And we’ve turned to none other than the top models themselves, who effortlessly nail different versions of this throw-up-and-go hairstyle on the reg.

Kendall Jenner

Who knew you could do a half-up style and rock a centre part at the same time? Kendall’s effortless half-up half-down hairstyle is the OG look - and she pulls it off with ease. Her dark brunette locks are parted down the centre, then the top half of her hair has been tossed into a ponytail right below the crown of her head. The rest of her high-shine hair is left down for a fresh and relaxed style. The best part about this look? It somehow looks both polished and totally effortless at the same time. Kudos to you, Kendall.

Top tip: Massage a texturising powder into the roots to give your hair an extra oomph of volume at the crown.

Hailey Baldwin

Hailey steps up the off-duty hair look and makes the case for the half-up braided style. While this one might look a little more intricate, it’s actually quite simple. Her half-up section has been styled into a tight French braid (check out how to master this braid here), while the rest of her hair has been left down. The pink pastel hue? Optional!

Bella Hadid

While walking down the red carpet is anything but ‘off-duty’, Bella Hadid’s take on the half-up half-down hairstyle would look just at home, well, at home, as it does paired with a pretty frock. She styled her brunette locks slicked back in a messy half-up bun at the perfect angle, which works wonders to draw all the attention to her chiselled cheekbones (oh, and a heavy hand of highlighter helps, too). She left the rest of her hair down in sleek, straight strands. We think this ‘do is perfect for fine hair, because it adds a bit of volume to the crown, plus it’s super easy to do.

We’re pretty darn obsessed with these half-up styles, but if you’re more of an all-up type of gal, here’s how to nail that sleek and simple ponytail.
