And sold more than 10,000 bottles in just a few hours

As far as celebrities go, Elon Musk is definitely an interesting fellow.

While the Tesla co-founder usually stays in his lane and sticks to engineering and financial pursuits, he’s now decided to segue into the world of beauty.

Musk’s ‘The Boring Company’ has offered a rather unusual contribution to the fragrance community in the form of a spring perfume that is said to smell like burnt hair. The aptly-named scent, [THE BORING COMPANY] Burnt Hair ($100 USD at BORING COMPANY), promises a “singed” aroma that is “the essence of repugnant desire.”

The Burnt Hair landing page hilariously claims it’s “just like leaning over a candle at the dinner table, but without all the hard work,” and it will help you to “stand out in a crowd” and “get [you] noticed as you walk through the airport.”

Musk has been using Twitter to market the new fragrance. “With a name like mine, getting into fragrance was inevitable,” he quipped in one Tweet. He encouraged his followers to buy his perfume so he could buy Twitter in another.

His curious advertising methods appear to be working though. The Boring Company has reportedly sold a shocking 10, 000 bottles of Burnt Hair, resulting in a profit of $1 million USD, just a mere few hours after it was launched. We’re looking forward to seeing customer’s reviews of the fragrance.

This isn’t the only unusual beauty-related news to crop up this week. Turns out the shaved eyebrow trend is going to claim the brows of celebrities everywhere.
