Multi-hyphenate Erin Holland may have only lasted a short time on SAS Australia, but it didn’t take very much airtime for us to start obsessing over the former beauty queen’s immaculate complexion.
The founder of health and wellbeing app ‘Shift with Erin’, Holland no doubt takes care of herself physically through a strict diet and exercise regimen, but we had to know what skin care products the model and TV host was hiding in her bathroom cabinet to be able to achieve such flawless, porcelain skin.
Fastidious in our hunt for the 32-year-old’s skin care secrets, we scoured the many corners of the Internet and discovered that while Holland’s skin may not always be perfect (she’s struggled openly with acne in recent years), she’s a big proponent for a simple, easy-to-maintain skin care routine that doesn’t break the bank – we knew we liked this woman for a reason.
SPF is a MUST
“The basics of my skin care routine are simple – cleanse, moisturise, sunscreen,” Holland told Beauticate in 2019. “After moisturiser I always apply sunscreen before I apply my makeup. Our skin is just too important not to do so.”
“I’ve been raised to be super diligent with my sun safety, growing up as I did in North Queensland and having our family experience skin cancer,” Holland explained.
Holland’s go-to sunscreen picks for daily protection?
“Neutrogena Hydroboost Water Gel Lotion SPF50 ($9.99 at Chemist Warehouse) everyday is a must for me... it works so well as a base under makeup,” the model shared with Beauticate. “It’s lightweight and dries matte, makeup goes on so easily afterwards because the sunscreen hasn’t made you greasy or shiny.”
The La Roche-Posay ambassador has also come out as a fan of La Roche-Posay Anthelios Invisible Fluid SPF50 + ($20.99 at Chemist Warehouse) on her Instagram, saying she loves that it’s “so lightweight, non-comedogenic (doesn’t clog your pores!) and perfectly works under your daily makeup, so gives me no excuse to stay protected!”.
“Daily sunscreen is STILL your #1 defence against premature signs of ageing, such as wrinkles, pigmentation and age spots,” the model explained to her followers in another IG post dedicated to the cult-fave SPF formula.
She never skips out on moisturiser
Though Holland admits she loves a matte finish from her skin care to ensure her makeup goes on smoothly, she’s still an avid applicator of moisturiser.
Holland told Beauticate back in 2019 that she loved endota New Age Peptide Firming Moisturiser ($88 at Endota Spa) as a simple everyday hydrator.
But in recent years she’s swapped the anti-ager for a formula that helped with her sudden outbreak of adult acne, which developed during the COVID-19 outbreak and just months before her wedding no less: “In the morning, [I] use the [La Roche-Posay] Effaclar Duo + Anti-Acne Moisturiser ($22.39 at Chemist Warehouse),” she told her Instagram followers.
Her routine wouldn’t be complete without a few key serums
In an IG post, Holland admitted that ever since she started experiencing adult acne, she’s been utilising the micro-exfoliating powers of the La Roche-Posay Effaclar Ultra Concentrated Serum ($41.99 at Chemist Warehouse).
“It's so common to still experience breakouts in your adulthood (up to 40% of 20-40 year olds)... [La Roche-Posay Effaclar Ultra Concentrated Serum] helps me stay on top of them... to combat acne, anti-ageing, fine lines, wrinkles and more.”
Her other potent weapon in the fight against acne is the La Roche-Posay Retinol B3 Serum ($48.99 at Chemist Warehouse): “Serums are life, I’ve discovered! My skin is thanking me for the extra additions to my routine - including @larocheposayaunz’s #RetinolB3 Serum every night!! What does it do? All the things,” Holland went on to explain to her Instagram following.
“It’s an #antiageing serum formulated with Vitamin B3 to soothe the skin, whilst the pure retinol resurfaces and renews any fine lines, deep wrinkles and dark spots.”
Her makeup contains skin care-inspired ingredients
Recently, Holland admitted via Instagram that her skin care state of mind extends past her skin care routine and spills into her makeup kit: “Why sacrifice your skin quality for flawless coverage makeup, when you can have both?!”. Amen, sister.
Holland’s skin care-infused makeup faves? SEPHORA COLLECTION Best Skin Ever Perfect Natural Finish Longwear Foundation ($32 at Sephora) and SEPHORA COLLECTION Best Skin Ever High Coverage Concealer ($26 at Sephora).
“The foundation + concealer combo hydrates and protects, literally improving your skin in 28 days. What’s not to love?”, the TV presenter mused to her fans.
She loves a facial too
“For facials, Endota Spa is my absolute fave retreat in Sydney,” Holland explained in her 2019 Beauticate interview. “The Intense New Age Light Therapy ($160 at Endota Spa) is super active yet incredibly relaxing – it does wonders for my skin.”
“My face really cops a lot with the consistent flying and heavy-duty makeup, so I try to get one of these facials every month to thoroughly clean out and rejuvenate my skin.”
The TV presenter has also been known to stop in at Jocelyn Petroni when she’s in Sydney, according to a testimonial on Petroni’s website, where Holland describes the facials as “the closest thing there is to heaven on earth.”
“I feel completely at ease the moment I walk through the door and into the capable hands of the Jocelyn Petroni staff,” the model gushed. “I’ve trusted them implicitly with my skin for the last 4 years, and couldn’t be more pleased with the results I get time and time again.”
Another model with immaculate skin? This is everything Bella Hadid does to keep her skin looking runway ready.
