Get Bella Hadid’s epic Cannes ponytail

Celebrity hairstylist Jen Atkin reveals how she created the sleek style

The 69th Cannes Film Festival has kicked off, so for the next two weeks you can expect to see more beauty inspiration than you ever though imaginable.

Model-of-the-moment Bella Hadid was one of the first celebrities to walk the red carpet, and she certainly made an impact with a contoured, radiant makeup look and sky-high sleek ponytail.

Jen Atkin was the celebrity stylist responsible for the high-impact hairstyle, and luckily for us, she took to Snapchat to reveal exactly what products she used and how she created this hair look.

So if you’ve got long hair and aren’t quite sure how to make a ponytail work for a special occasion, read Jen’s steps below.

1

Prep damp hair

Before blow-drying your hair, apply mousse to your damp hair at the roots. Atkins used the Soft Mousse from her own hair brand, Ouai, which isn’t available here, so we suggest trying TONI&GUY Hair Care Volume Plumping Mousse.

2

Add moisture for that shiny finish

Apply oil to your lengths and ends, and then begin blow-drying your hair. Jen used Ouia Hair Oil, so you can try L’Oréal Paris Extraordinary Oil instead.

3

Blow-dry

Use a round brush when blow-drying for a smooth finish.

4

Straighten for a sleek finish

Once your hair is dry, straighten your hair to get it looking as sleek as possible. Try ghd platinum styler to iron out any bends and smooth down fly-aways.

5

Add some extensions

If your hair is lacking length, section your hair and clip in some hair extensions. Atkins used Beauty Works Clip-In Extensions on Bella, but you can try Show Pony Clip-In Extensions.

6

Create your ponytail

To finish, secure your ponytail high on the crown of your head, and brush down fly-aways with a small brush. Spray with your hairspray to keep the style in place.

TOP TIP: If you want to copy Bella’s chic finish, leave a section of hair out from the bottom layer of your hair, and wrap that around your ponytail once it’s secured.
