Makeup tricks to make your eyes look bigger

Master the look of big eyes in just a few steps

Beauty Crew Beauty Editor / December 14 2016

Has the frantic race towards the finish line (and not to mention, the stress of Christmas shopping) got you looking a little deflated? The easiest way to reverse the signs of fatigue is with makeup - expert makeup artist, Sarah Laidlaw, shares her tips for creating big eyes using just a few products.

1

Apply your base colour

First apply a wash of champagne coloured eyeshadow (such as CHANEL Ombre Essentielle Soft Touch Eyeshadow in Beige) from your lash line to just below the crease.

2

Create a highlight

Add a touch to the inner corners of your eyes to make them pop.

3

Apply your first colour

Using a matte, light beige eyeshadow (like MAC Eye Shadow in Wedge), work along the crease line and out into a rounded winged shape. Then smudge it under the lower lashes.

4

Blend it out

Take a clean, soft eyeshadow brush and, in little swirls, blend the outer edges. Don’t forget to extend it a little further to create the look of big eyes.

5

Add some depth

Create a small ‘v’ shape at the outer corner with tan coloured eyeshadow and softly blend so there’s no line. Add a touch to the outer edge of the lower lash line, too.

6

Brighten your peepers

Use a cream coloured eye pencil, like Cover FX Perfect Pencil in your waterline.

7

Curl it up

With shu uemura eyelash curler, curl your lashes to lift and make the eyes appear more open.

8

Define your eyes

Starting at the roots, apply mascara (like L’Oréal Paris False Lash Sculpt Mascara). Make sure to wiggle the wand at the base of the root to give definition, before sweeping the brush through the lashes.

9

Finish it off

Feeling game? To really give the illusion of big eyes, apply false lashes.
