Brie Larson’s Oscar-winning hair ‘do

Get this pretty style in just a few steps

Beauty Crew Beauty Editor / February 08 2017

You may not have heard much about the young actress, but Brie Larson has fast become the one to watch this red carpet season.

Larson just took home her first Oscar award for her role in Room, but that’s not why we’re celebrating today; instead, we’re drooling over the beautiful half updo created by celebrity hair stylist Mara Roszak.

While Roszak upped the glam factor here but weaving in jewelled headpiece, you can tweak the style to suit any occasion.

We spoke to expert hairstylist Elyston Hayden for his step by step guide to achieve the Oscar-winning look.

1

Prep

Work a small dollop of volumising mousse (such as Toni & Guy Prep Volume Plumping Mousse) on towel-dried hair, and from your mid-lengths to ends.

2

Dry

Rough dry your hair while running your fingers through for extra control.

3

Curl

Using a tong with a medium-sized barrel, such as Cloud Nine’s The Waving Wand, curl your hair in small sections, winding your hair away from your face.

TOP TIP: Start your curl from your mid-lengths for a softer finish

3

Twist

Part your hair in the centre, and take one section from just above your ear, and a section just above that, and wrap the two pieces around each other until your twist reaches the centre of the back of your head. Pin in place and repeat on the other side.

TOP TIP: To recreate Brie’s exact look with the clip, first place and secure the clip, then when you’ve made your twists, weave them in and through the clip, securing with a pin.

4

Spray

Finish the look with a generous amount of hairspray (we like O&M Queenie Hairspray).
