Kim Kardashian’s super sleek strands are her signature hairstyle. Whether she’s rocking a platinum blonde lob or her natural dark mane, there’s no denying her hair is always flawlessly smooth and shiny – not a fly-away in sight. And finally we know her secret.
The Keeping Up With The Kardashians star posted a tutorial on her blog revealing the go-to product she uses to get flawless, fly-away-free locks.
Her trick? She swears by OUAI Anti-Frizz Hair Sheets.
They look a lot like blotting papers (they’re actually sheets of hemp paper) and are designed to be rubbed over your hair’s surface from roots to ends to fix dry, static-prone strands. The sheets are infused with coconut oil to calm frizz and smooth down fly-aways, as well as shea butter to give your mane a healthy sheen.
They are a total no-fuss option and perfect for when you’re on the go (did someone say new travel staple?!). What’s more, a pack of 15 costs USD$18, which is roughly AUD$22 (and works out to be about $1.50 per hair sheet). So hopefully when these hair sheets launch on our shores they’ll be the same affordable price! So. Excited.
There's no word yet on when these handbag-friendly frizz fighting sheets will hit our shores, so in lieu of them, we asked some of Australia's top hairdressers for their top tips for taming those fly-aways.
#1 / Prepare your hair
Celebrity hairstylist Samuel Overton says in order to avoid frizzy hair and fly-aways, some groundwork is crucial. “It’s all about preparation and using the right products at the right time. Add a control cream when hair is damp/towel-dried and blow-dry it in,” he explains. “Then if needed, add a little more at the end. Apply from mid-lengths to ends. Don’t rely on products on dry hair or when you’ve finished styling, preparation is key.” Overton’s favourite frizz-fighting weapon? He recommends using TAME by UEW Haircare.
#2 / The cool blow-dry
Yep! It might sound odd but celebrity hairstylist Anthony Nader swears by a cool blow-dry to keep fly-aways at bay. “After you’ve finished blow-drying, hit the cool shot button on your hairdryer, then run the end of the nozzle over the hair surface for approximately 30 seconds,” Nader explains. “This final step actually keeps your blowout lasting longer as the cool air 'sets' the hair shape and also doubles up to impart a healthy sheen.”
#3 / Hairspray smooth
Another tip? Celebrity hairstylist Remington Schulz has a clever trick: "Finish hairstyles with a hairspray like Pantene Pro-V Stay Smooth Hairspray. Spray any baby hairs or fly-aways and then use the edge of the can to smooth them into place. This will give a super sleek finish!"
