This French pharmacy moisturiser is the answer to combating shine and blackheads

Here’s what our Review Crew® had to say about this anti-shine moisturiser

The product

Oily skin can lead to a number of skin woes including enlarged pores, blackheads and unwanted skin texture caused by built-up sebum and impurities, so the fact that cult French pharmacy brand La Roche-Posay has created an anti-shine moisturiser that helps to tackle all of these issues *plus* can be used to create the perfect priming base under makeup makes it a must-try for oily and combination skin types.

La Roche-Posay Effaclar K (+) contains LHA and salicylic acid, which work to exfoliate skin and unclog pores. The presence of carnosine works to interrupt the oxidation process that gives blackheads their dark colour, while Airlicium™, a molecule that can absorb up to 150 times its volume in sebum, helps mattify skin for a lasting anti-shine finish.

Our panel of Review Crew® members put this product to the test.

The panel

Beauty Crew sent La Roche-Posay Effaclar K (+) to a panel of women aged between 18 and 35 who suffer from oily and blackhead-prone skin.

The lowdown

Here’s what the Review Crew® loved about La Roche-Posay Effaclar K (+).

It minimised shine throughout the day: Reviewers loved using the moisturiser under their makeup as it helped keep their shine under control throughout the day and provided a smooth base for their foundation.

It refined the appearance of their pores: Members noticed that after using the moisturiser for a couple of weeks, their pores looked more refined and appeared to have reduced in size.

It reduced the appearance of blackheads: Review Crew® members noted that the moisturiser helped to visibly reduce the appearance of their blackheads, and they also saw an improvement in the texture of their skin in the space of just a few weeks.

The verdict

“I still do get blackheads but they aren’t nearly as bad as they used to be and my skin is not as oily as it used to be. My skin has been left feeling nice and smooth with this product and I am a definite fan.”

“I've definitely noticed less oil, congestion and oxidation when it comes to the pores on my nose, and haven't noticed any blackheads around my temples. I've still had a few new pimples develop, however there has been much less inflammation than usual, and they've quickly healed.”

“It leaves your skin so soft and really does tighten your pores. I found that it was a good moisturiser to use underneath your foundation as it left a nice smooth base.”
