If you’ve seen her in Cinderella or in the latest Burberry campaign, you know that Lily James has a seriously strong eyebrow game. Her thick brown arches nearly give Cara Delevingne a run for her money.
But when the 27-year-old actress recently spoke to Vogue UK, we discovered that this hasn’t always been the case, and surprisingly she has a film director to thank for them.
“I used to pluck my eyebrows so they were about one hair thick - it was a bad phase,” shared Lily. She went on to explain how her director at the time was the one who noticed her bad brows. “It wasn't even from a beauty angle, it was from a director I was working with where I was playing a 13-year-old,” she shared. “He was like: ‘Your eyebrows are too thin, you shouldn't pluck them!’ So I grew them, and it kind of revolutionised my face.”
Overplucking our eyebrows is a nasty 90s mistake that too many of us are guilty of, but it’s rather comforting to know even celebrities have made the blunder…and that it’s not too late to get brows as good as Lily’s.
