There are two things we know for sure about Lola Tung (aside from her undeniable talent, of course). First, she’s a die-hard Swiftie. And second? Her minimalist beauty routine is packed with drugstore gems.

The star of The Summer I Turned Pretty recently shared her go-to skin care and makeup routine on Vogue’s Beauty Secrets. And it’s packed with A+ beauty advice and products, including a $6 drugstore lip gloss

Oh, and did we mention her entire routine is totally cruelty-free? We’re definitely taking notes…

Lola Tung’s skin care routine

So what are the secrets behind the 20-year-old’s flawless, glowing skin? Well, it hasn’t always come easy. “Growing up I started getting really bad breakouts on my forehead,” laments Tung. “I would wash my face and use the tiniest bit of moisturiser. It made my skin worse. I really started learning how to take care of my skin correctly probably when I was filming season one of The Summer I Turned Pretty.”

Tung’s skincare routine starts with the Good Molecules Niacinamide Brightening Toner ($33.60 at Lila Beauty) then applies the Herbivore Lapis All Natural Facial Oil ($37.52 at Amazon) and finishes with the Herbivore Pink Cloud Soft Moisture Cream ($74.49 at Revolve).

“When I get those dry spots and it’s hard for makeup to sit on top of it, this just saves the day,” Tung says, applying the Westman Atelier Skin Activator Serum ($241 at MECCA). Yes, it’s bougie, but it works!

And in case you were wondering, Tung doesn’t skip the sunscreen. “My mum was really really adamant about me and my sister wearing [SPF] when we were younger and reapplying throughout the day,” she says. “I was always the kid who was like ‘Did everybody apply their sunscreen?!’” Her go-to? The Cocokind Daily SPF (currently not available in Australia).

She also swears by the Live Tinted Rays Copper Peptide Eye Masks ($35.64 at Cult Beauty) for a “self-care moment”. And now, the final step in Tung’s skin care routine: Ilia’s Lip Wrap Reviving Balm ($38.87 at Revolve).

Lola Tung’s favourite makeup products

When it comes to makeup, Tung opts for a ‘your skin but better’ approach. She does lean into the latte makeup trend with a soft, brown winged eye using the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in ‘Whiskey’ ($38 at MECCA). “I like to do a really tiny wing and smudge it our a little bit,” Tung says. “Sometimes it’s a hit and miss.” Same, girl.

For concealer, Tung uses the Merit The Minimalist Perfecting Complexion Stick (currently not available in Australia) under her eyes. She then curls her lashes and applies the Thrive Causemetics Liquid Lash Extensions Mascara (approx. $37 at Thrive Causemetics), before setting her face with the e.l.f Halo Glow Setting Powder ($20 at Kmart).

Tung swipes on Merit’s Flush Balm Cream Blush in ‘Raspberry Beret’ (currently not available in Australia) for a wash of colour. She uses a brow gel cocktail, first going in with Merit’s Brow 1980 Volumizing Pomade (currently not available in Australia) then setting her arches with the NYX Control Freak Brow Gel ($7.19 at Priceline).

And now for the star(s) of the show. Tung finishes her look with a pop of lip colour, swiping on the Make Beauty Cream Supreme High Impact Lipstick in ‘Regenerate’ (currently not available in Australia). And her go-to lip colour, the NYX Butter Gloss in ‘Brownie Drip’ (currently on sale for $5.99 at Priceline) seals the deal.

As for the question that’s on everyone’s lips – team Conrad or team Jeremiah? – Tung had the best answer. “I will always stand by my answer… Team Belly.”

You go girl.
