The product

Ever wished your hair colour would look just a little less brassy (or god forbid – green)? Or maybe you want your locks to look a little less damaged?

All of the above is achievable with a metal detox. What’s a metal detox, you ask? A metal detox cleanses the hair of accumulated metal particles and chemicals. Think: metals and coppers found in water, pipes and chlorine.

The L'Oréal Professionnel Metal Detox Shampoo and L'Oréal Professionnel Metal Detox Mask not only cleanse the hair of said particles, but also helps to replenish hair. The dual action of detoxification and nourishment of the hair fibre results in prolonged colour vibrancy, a reduction in hair breakage, and shiny strands.

Beauty Crew sent the L'Oréal Professionnel Metal Detox Shampoo and L'Oréal Professionnel Metal Detox Mask to a panel of women aged 18 and older with coloured hair.

The lowdown

Here’s what the Review Crew® loved about the L'Oréal Professionnel Metal Detox Shampoo and L'Oréal Professionnel Metal Detox Mask.

The way it removed heavy metals and chemicals from their hair: A number of reviewers said they were confused as to why their hair would need a metal detox. But after using the shampoo and mask, they were convinced. Many noted they saw an improvement in their hair colour, specifically a reduction in brassy and (for some) green tones. They also saw an improvement in overall hair health, with many saying their damaged hair felt silkier and softer with continued use.

The fragrance: Review Crew® members described the citrus scent of the shampoo and mask as “not highly perfumed”, “slightly masculine” and “smells divine”.

The packaging: Members really liked the luxe feel of the packaging, and a handful said they loved having the pair on display in their shower.

The verdict

“The lather/foam [of L'Oréal Professionnel Metal Detox Shampoo] was rich and creamy, cleansing the hair without stripping it. Initially I was skeptical about whether my hair would be clean. It was. And it felt clean for days afterwards. The fragrance is unusual - not highly perfumed, and not unpleasant, it does linger for a few days. A real surprise as I wash daily. In conjunction with the masque my hair felt fabulous. Thick, glossy, and dare I say it, like colour treated locks! Totally recommend it for this alone. However, an added bonus is my hair has lost its brassy tinge. Keen to see how it copes with sun, sand, surf and chlorine now.”

“I was really keen to try [L'Oréal Professionnel Metal Detox Shampoo] as I have used many L'Oréal products before and have never been disappointed. I have very fine shoulder length hair with both natural and bleached highlights. I just love this shampoo. At first I was put off by the smell. It was quite strong the first couple of uses but has now softened. However, no complaints about the performance - just superb. You need just the tiniest amount of this product. It lathers beautifully and washes out easily, leaving your hair clean and refreshed. My highlights look cleaner and brighter. My hair has life. Great product.”

This metal detox mask leaves my hair feeling SO soft. It feels like my hair was never bleached at all! It’s nourishing, but not heavy, smells divine. “I used [the L'Oréal Professionnel Metal Detox Mask] with the Shampoo and loved both the products. The mask helped restore moisture in my dry bleached hair and helped my colour to shine and look more vibrant. I only needed to use a small amount of the product and left it on for just over 1 min before rinsing out. Has a similar strong fragrance to the shampoo but it’s not overpowering. A small amount of product goes a long way. Most of all love that these products detox the hair of metal deposits after colouring and lightening the hair. Highly recommend anyone who colours or lightens their hair to try, you won’t be disappointed.”
