False lashes are the easiest way to add volume and length where you may be naturally lacking. But they are also capable of completely transforming your makeup look. The 2019 Met Gala red carpet was all the proof you need. Forget simply gluing on a strip to enhance your natural lashes; it’s time to expect more from your falsies.
Gold foil falsies
Inspired by: Lady Gaga
Lady Gaga is back to her old ways of bringing the theatre to the red carpet. Her spiky gold lashes may not be an everyday option, but imagine those gold foil lashes cut back to natural proportions. Suddenly all we want to do is hunt down a pair of golden falsies for our next night out.
Inspired by: Kendall Jenner
Sometimes it’s the smallest things that make the biggest impact. For Kendall Jenner’s Met Gala 2019 beauty look, it’s those three wispy false lashes on her lower lash line. Up top, Kendall went for really dense, separated false lashes that curled out. Then to balance out the top-heavy look, all it took was three individual lashes down below.
Spiky straight lashes

Gigi’s white false lashes certainly command attention. Besides the white colour that is impossible to ignore, we also love the stardust shape that’s more straight and pointed than a traditional flutter.
Twiggy with a twist
Inspired by: Sienna Miller
Who can forget that iconic Twiggy lash look? It still continues to inspire. But if you’re looking to give the ‘70s look a modern twist, Sienna has just showed us how. Find yourself a more dense and longer version of Twiggy false lashes and place a small strip of them at the lower outside corner of your eyes. Add a classic strip of false lashes to the top and coat your natural lower lashes with mascara to complete the look.
Inspired by: Priyanka Chopra
Ok, you need to look past the out-there makeup and hair Priyanka has got going on, and focus on those amazing false lashes. Especially the glittery silver tips she’s added. You still get that great eye-defining effect from the black lashes along the entire top lash line, then the frosted tips up the glam ten-fold.
Outer-edge feature lashes
Inspired by: Sara Sampaio
When you’re wearing a super smoky eye, a full flutter of lashes is only going to get lost among all that darkness. So what’s a girl to do? Find extra long false lashes that have a unique design and glue them to the outside corner of your eye. Voila! All eyes are on you.
