Miley Cyrus certainly loves a throwback these days. If you haven’t been following her on Instagram, she’s been religiously posting old pictures from her youth, her Disney days, and even her controversial Wrecking Ball period (remember *that* performance with Robin Thicke?).
And now it seems like she’s taken her nostalgia to a whole new level by getting a cut and colour that looks EXACTLY like that of the Disney Channel character that made her famous in the first place: popstar Hannah Montana.
Taking to her Instagram Stories, the Nothing Breaks Like A Heart and Malibu American singer first showed off a serious head of foils, then revealed a creamy blonde colour and straight fringe, courtesy of hairdesser Sally Hershberger and colourist Justin Anderson.
The resemblance is uncanny, no?
And lest you think it’s a wig all for the purposes of a social media stunt, she reassured her fans it was the real deal with this snap of the back of her head, captioned #NoFilter #NoWig ALL ME
While she had us all sold that the inspiration behind the new look was Hannah Montana, the singer later shared that she copied the look from another Disney star.
In a follow-up Instagram post, Miley shared a snap of Hilary Duff in the Disney movie Cinderella Story, captioning the pic “OG INSPO”.
Interesting! Could this mean Hilary Duff’s ‘Cinderella Story’ Disney character is actually the original inspiration behind Hannah Montana’s signature look?
Either way, she totally played it up for the fans – and they loved it! She gave another nod to her blonde alter-ego by singing along to the iconic theme song, The Best of Both Worlds (but, of course, added her cheeky Miley flavour at the end).
We can’t help wonder if this makeover is for a new music album, to celebrate the 13th anniversary of Hannah Montana, an odd to Hilary Duff, or just Miley Cyrus shaking things up in her usual Miley fashion.
We wonder how hubby Liam Hemsworth will feel about this new look?
