Natural Instinct’s 6 week challenge

The facial skin care products are put to the test

Beauty Crew Beauty Editor / May 25 2017

Recently, Natural Instinct’s ambassador Laura Dundovic participated in Natural Instinct’s 6 Week Challenge, where she had to use only their products for six weeks straight. We then tasked one of our Beauty Crew readers, Lauren Heritage, with the exact same challenge. She used the Refreshing Foaming Cleanser, Nourishing Facial Moisturiser, Dark Circle + Wrinkle Correction Eye Crème and the Plump & Renew Serum, and here is what she thought of the natural products.

Her profile

Lauren Heritage is a mum of two children - she has a girl aged 10 and a boy aged seven. She works part-time as a bookkeeper and in her spare time loves to practice yoga and spend time with her family.

Her regular skin care routine

Lauren tells us that she’s always loved using natural products, so it was going to be an interesting six weeks to see how Natural Instinct measures up to the other brands she’s currently using and she particularly was looking to increase skin clarity & even her skin tone. When asked why she prefers natural skin care, Lauren replied, “I feel natural skin care is better as it’s better to put something natural on my skin instead of chemicals. There are enough chemicals in the air as it is.  Plus, It makes my skin feel soft, healthy and hydrated.”

The challenge

Lauren’s daily routine for the challenge was relatively simple, and took around three to five minutes. In the morning, her routine involved cleansing with the Natural Instinct Refreshing Foaming Cleanser, using the Dark Circle + Wrinkle Correction Eye Crème, followed by the Nourishing Facial Moisturiser and the Tinted Face Natural Sunscreen.

As for the evening, she cleansed once again with the Refreshing Foaming Cleanser, moisturised with the Rejuvenating Rosehip Oil, and finished with the Restoring Night Cream.

Although some of these products weren’t part of the challenge, Lauren purchased these on her own as she loved using the brand so much. “I bought the Tinted Face Natural Sunscreen, Rosehip Oil and Night Cream and really loved it.”

Her thoughts

Her favourite product was something that she used daily - the Nourishing Facial Moisturiser. “You don’t need much, just a tiny amount and it soaks straight into your skin within two minutes so you can start applying makeup almost straight away,” exclaimed Lauren.

As for the best thing about doing the challenge? “Taking the time out to care for my skin,” said Lauren. “I don’t like taking selfies but it was good to see the changes in my skin.”

The results

One week in: “It made my skin feel nice at first, and I had no reaction which was great because I do have sensitive skin.”

Three weeks in: “I usually use a mineral foundation that just covers up and evens out my skin, but the products made me feel comfortable without makeup. Plus, I normally get really big pimples on my chin, and ever since using the products I still, to this day, haven’t had a big flare up.”

Products used in the Natural Instinct 6 Week Challenge

After the challenge: “I will continue to use Natural Instinct.  I love all the products, I’m so happy I have found a brand that is natural and is a great price. I have used other natural products in the past but they were expensive and didn’t give me the results that Natural Instinct does.  Other non-natural products would dry my skin and make it feel tight.  Before I had children I made my own products as there were no natural products available.”

It was a lot of fun doing the professional shoot, and was interesting to see the behind the scenes and how much work goes into a photoshoot. The best bit would be being pampered and meeting everyone.
