We know ALL the secrets behind Olympia Valance’s killer hair

Plus, her simple foundation trick for flawless skin

Beauty Crew Beauty Writer / February 13 2019

If there’s one head of hair we want to steal, it’s Olympia Valance’s. She has to be up there with our top celebrity hair crushes. And for good reason - the girl just has the glossiest, most luxurious and healthy-looking locks.

So, when we found out the Aussie star (Neighbours, Playing for Keeps and Dancing with the Stars are all on her resume – NO BIGGIE) has nabbed herself a new gig as L’Oréal Professionnel’s new ambassador, we couldn’t imagine a better gal for the job.

We caught up with the newly appointed face of the brand and you’re going to bet we took this opportunity to ask her ALL the hair questions, ever. You’re welcome, friends.

On her new hair colour…
“I haven’t done my hair properly for a while – since I was on Playing for Keeps – so this is the first time that I’ve had my hair fully coloured. They [L’Oréal Professionnel] used a product that is ammonia-free, so it’s a lot better for your hair and you still get an amazing colour. The colour is oil-based so your hair always feels amazing afterwards. L’Oréal also have a Smartbond treatment which you use as a conditioner after you get your hair coloured – it’s unbelievable, my hair has never felt better. I love natural-looking hair and that’s what the #ColorMeFrench campaign is all about. I love that my hair looks true to my natural colouring, but it now has a little more depth and dimension.”

On her everyday hair routine…
“I can’t blow-dry my hair, so I like to use L’Oréal Professionnel Tecni.ART Beach Waves – it’s really good for someone that can’t do their own hair. I get out of the shower, spray it all over my hair and kind of scrunch it in, then I let it dry. I’ve got wavy hair naturally, so if I let it dry on its own, it can get really frizzy. L’Oréal Professionnel Tecni.ART Beach Waves kind of smooths it and keeps it all in place. Instead of getting out tongs or an iron, you just spray it in and it’ll look like you’ve had your hair done. If you have to let your hair dry naturally, do all of that and it’ll look great when you get to where you’re supposed to be.”

On her go-to hairstyle for working out…
“Up in a high, slick bun. I love doing my hair really tight. I have really strong hair, so I always go with a double hair tie! This is also a good one for when you have dirty hair, too - get some haispray [on] those little fly-aways and slick it right back. It looks like you’ve had your hair professionally done. I’m all about trying to find ways to do your hair yourself.”

On her most outrageous hair look…
“When I did a full haircut on Neighbours. My hair was so long and I was like, ‘I don’t want long hair anymore’ and I got them to cut it in a bob, and it didn’t look good. I thought I’d get used to it, but I never did. Long hair is my thing. I won’t do that again. Also, on Playing for Keeps I had a full fringe, which is something I’ve never done before. They wanted to cut my hair and I was like, ‘I’ll meet you halfway – I’ll do a fringe’.”

On the best hair tip she’s learnt from the pros…
“When wearing my hair up, the only thing I ever knew how to do was to slick it back. But using a bit of a textured spray with a beach spray is an easy way to create a bit more volume when you’re wearing it up. It’s all about the products!”

On her daily makeup routine…
“I love a good foundation – I use Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk. Rather than using a flat foundation brush, I use a bigger brush that is a little bit puffier and I kind of stipple the foundation, so you don’t look like you have a full face of makeup on. I’m also all about a little bit of a lippie – I use YSL Rouge Volupte Shine Oil-In-Stick Lipstick every day.”
