Anyone game for #1?

Beauty Crew Beauty Writer / December 12 2018

December means Christmas, family, love and a peek into Pinterest’s biggest and best beauty trend predictions for next year. And we’re going to be honest, we’re pretty excited to take a squiz at how our beauty game will be looking in 2019.

So, get ready to soak up some major inspo for the year ahead, because here are the top 10 beauty trends everyone will be obsessing over next year.

#10 / Baby bangs

Baby bangs (or mini fringes) are the next big thing on the hair front for 2019 (searches for short fringes are up 51 per cent), and we feel like Emma Watson had a hand at making this a thing. Baby bangs are basically a just-above-the-brow fringe – they look uber edgy and effortlessly cool. If you’re thinking about taking the plunge, know that tiny fringes are super versatile and there are plenty of ways to style them – whether you want to opt for something choppy, separated or blunt.

#9 / Natural lash lifts

We all know that maintaining our lash game can be a pricey endeavour, so this could be why people are deciding to go the DIY route. Searches for natural lash lifts have increased by 52 per cent, with people looking for how to give their lashes a lift with natural solutions – think castor oil, grapeseed oil and aloe vera.

#8 / The new way to exfoliate

Say goodbye to your beloved scrubs! In 2019, we’ll be lathering up with liquid exfoliators for brighter, smoother skin. Searches for liquid exfoliators are up 58 per cent, and for good reason – these chemical exfoliants are considered a gentler and more environmentally-friendly option than physical scrubs that contain microbeads. Plus, many liquid exfoliators contain a heap of powerhouse ingredients including AHAs and BHAs. Some of our faves include Clinique’s Clarifying Lotion 1.0 Twice a Day Exfoliator and Pixi Glow Tonic Exfoliating Toner.

#7 / Glossy everything

It’s time to throw a little gloss on your lids and hit the streets, because the newest and dewiest makeup trend is wet and wonderful – not to mention delightfully simple. From lips to lids, gloss is becoming the go-to technique to show off your best features. Searches for glossy makeup have increased by 89 per cent, so get on board.

Kylie Jenner

#6 / Almond nails

Almond nails are trending and we guarantee you’re going to want to try them. Up 97 per cent, this nail look is named after the round shape and narrow tip of the nut, and it really works to accentuate your nails for a stylish, bold manicure.

#5 / Witch hazel

This old favourite is back, people! Pinterest has revealed everyone is getting back on the Witch hazel bandwagon in order to solve their skin issues, with searches up 305 per cent. Haven’t heard of it before? Witch hazel is known for its ability to ease inflammation and soothe sensitive skin, while also helping to smooth pores and promote a fresh, clear complexion. You can’t argue with that!

#4 / Dip powder manicures

Dip powder manicures (also known as SNS nails) are trending like crazy, with searches going up 442 per cent. Why so popular? Well, dip powders are known to last a lot longer than traditional gels, usually three to four weeks. Plus, they are so much easier to remove. Dip powder manicures are known as the ‘healthier’ or ‘natural’ alternative to Shellac or gel manicures. #3 / Standout pouts

When it comes to lips, Pinterest tells us the bolder, the better. Pinners are pairing barely-there makeup with a statement red lip for added attention, with searches for standout lip colours up by 467 per cent. If you’re looking for some bold lipstick inspo, check out the Beauty Crew team’s Holy Grail bright lippies.

#2 / Grey hair

Forget your bi-monthly trips to the hairdresser to maintain your hair colour, because grey hair is officially in! *Insert collective sighs of relief*. Pinterest says people are growing out their natural grey hair and letting that silver hue shine through, with searches for ‘going grey’ up by 879 per cent. Looks like Dannii Minogue was WAY ahead of the game when she went grey earlier this year!

#1 / Lilac hair

Could it have been Ariana Grande who sparked this colourful hair trend?! If you don’t want to embrace your natural hair colour and instead want to try something statement, lilac hair is in and we’re not even a little bit mad about it. This pretty pastel colour has gone up by a whopping 1077 per cent, so you can expect to see a lot of it in 2019. Anyone contemplating the change but is scared to commit will love L’Oréal Professionnel Colorful Hair. It’s completely customisable in terms of colour depth and comes out in three to 15 washes, depending on your hair.
