The product: LANCOME Teint Idole Ultra Compact Powder Foundation  My verdict: I don’t normally choose or buy powder foundations as my skin is pretty dry, as they often just make my skin look and feel drier. However this one by Lancome is long-wearing, silky smooth and non-drying, so it’s definitely a winner! The compact is not bulky or heavy, and would fit perfectly in any makeup or handbag. There is a sponge applicator included and a mirror, making it ideal for touch ups and reapplications throughout the day, if you need this. I personally find that one application lasts me the whole day as this powder foundation gives lasting, transfer resistant and full coverage. The finish or effect is matte, but not an unnatural or cakey matte finish that looks like you’re wearing a mask. I like to apply a good day cream, BB cream or a light layer of liquid foundation before I use this foundation, only because it would be too dry and matte for my skin otherwise. But if you have oily skin then you could easily layer this powder foundation on and I’m sure it would still look natural and flawless. The product claims to last for 18 hours with no touch ups required. I would have to say that by late afternoon when I look at my complexion, my skin is still flawless and smooth and the foundation coverage is still pretty good.  This powder therefore doesn’t smudge or rub off as easily as your regular powder foundations, and is great if you’re looking for a long-wearing powder. It also contains some UV protection and this is something I always look for in a foundation or powder. The texture is not chalky like you’re average matte or oil-free powder, and therefore doesn’t feel uncomfortable or tight on the skin. The one major “con” of this product is that there are only about five shades available, making it difficult to find a great colour match for your complexion. Recommendations: Obviously I would mostly recommend this product to those with oilier or shiny skin, as it does create a matte finish. But I have dry skin myself and think this powders applies beautifully on my skin (I just have to make sure my skin is well moisturised before applying it). I recommend this powder foundation to anyone who wants full coverage that does actually last well throughout the day.  This product is quite expensive and the compact is not huge either I might add, so it’s not a budget buy. But I believe you get what you pay for, because the product does actually do what it claims to.  Repurchase: Absolutely! This is one of the best powder foundations I have ever used and I will continue to repurchase it.
I am a devotee to the Lancôme Teint De Idole 24 hour liquid foundation, I have been using it for nearly 3 years now, and I was super excited when I heard they were releasing a cream-to-powder version of this product. I assumed that this foundation would be lighter coverage and slip around on my face, as some cream foundations tend to be, but I was pleasantly surprised! Just like the original liquid version this foundation provides a lovely medium coverage (almost full if you decide to build it up) but it still does not look cakey! The original can cake up slightly on me sometimes however this product seems to provide a little more moisture to the skin while still leaving a nice satin finish behind. Its not an overly dewy finish so my oily-skin girls this will look lovely on your skin and I would 100% recommend it to you as well! I have slightly dry skin however it still leaves a nice finish that isn't too matte and just allows my skin to breathe. When you apply the foundation it feels beautiful on the skin and just glides over any dry patches or raised imperfections, I have some slight pigmentation from past breakouts but its covers them well. I also was impressed with the wearability of this foundation, it lasts all day on me and if I need to touch up on the go the handy sponge applicator in the bottom of the compact works surprisingly well if your if need of a quick fix. Lastly, I was not so impressed by the colour range- I wear shade 3 and I have medium-toned skin, however there is only 5 shades in the range. Lancôme is typically very good at bringing out ranges of shades to fit lots of skin tones...my original Teint De Idole foundation has 18 shades I believe (and lovely warm tones that are not too ashy for those with darker skin types!). I'm guessing as its still new Lancôme will see how popular the product is however I do wish the shade range was a little larger. Overall, still a lovely product with a medium coverage that lasts all day, leaves a satin finish and "does what it says on the tin really"! side note: stunning packaging from an aesthetical point of view, the compact is lovely and weighted and has a nice large mirror and is perfect for chucking in your handbag!
