A top notch curling appliance
This is a really novel and surprisingly easy way to get long lasting curls with minimal frizz. I am terrible at styling hair, so I was a bit unsure at first, but after a few days of playing around with it I finally got the hang of it. Once you get the feel for the tool, it becomes almost effortless. I love that it has different temperature options. I usually go for the mid range setting because it gives me that loose, beachy curl hair style that looks relaxed and natural. It is great that you can also create tighter curls for formal occasions.
One feature I really appreciate is that the barrel can rotate both clockwise and anti clockwise. I am a bit clumsy with styling tools so this functionality has helped me more than once. The only downside is that it can be a little fiddly getting your hair into the barrel. Anyone with thick hair might find this part a challenge. It would be even better if it opened like a straightener to make placement easier.
Overall it is a solid product from Remington and it would make a great Christmas gift for someone who wants pretty curls without much effort.
nice to hold, feels comfortable in the hand
I’d give the Remington AIRvive™ Rotating Curling Wand a solid three stars. It’s a good basic wand and does the job if you’re after simple curls without too much fuss. The design is nice to hold, feels comfortable in the hand, and the colour is quite pretty, which makes it visually appealing to use. However, the experience would be much easier if the plates actually opened. This would make styling quicker and more user-friendly, especially when sectioning hair. I found it works best on longer hair, my hai ris chin length, where there’s more length to wrap and rotate around the barrel, as the barrel is quite fat. On shorter styles, it takes a bit more effort to achieve an even curl. Overall, it’s a decent tool for uncomplicated waves, but not the most efficient or versatile option.
Smooth Operator <3
I have coarse wavy/curly hair so curling my hair would not only take forever but also end up just looking messy, frizzy and uneven and I would get so frustrated with it, especially my bangs.
My initial impression was one of complete awe, of a highly aesthetic looking product. Sleek design in a beautiful purple colour tone. Also included is a silicone heat pad so you can place the hot styler down without damaging your bench top. Clever and Practical! The 2in1styler heated up quickly and efficiently. I was able to comfortably straighten my dry hair with the plates gliding smoothly through sectioned pieces without any feeling of pulling or tugging. The styler was easy to use and I was impressed with the my straightened hair. Looking forward to trying with wet hair, love this versatile feature. I would recommend this product to others.
Not anymore, I am in LOVE, it took me less than 15mins to do my curls and bangs. I love the adjustable timer and once you get the hang of holding it and using it, it's silky smooth to operate.
The auto-rotate barrel just requires a push to start weaving it’s magic doing the wrapping work for you and preventing arm strain. The ionic air technology cools hair as you go which locks in curls, reduces frizz, and makes them last longer. I did use some hair spray but less than like I normally would! This is so easy to use even for beginners like me who let’s admit it aren't great with hair tools.
This is replacing my old straightener.
Requires patience and coordination
I’m just going to say it - this product was not for me. It took forever to use, was very fiddly and cumbersome for me, and my hair refused to hold a curl. I do have pin straight hair that is difficult to curl at the best of times, the struggle between this Remington and I was a very one-sided battle. I lost.
It’s an interesting gadget compared to a normal curling wand. The head has two fixed plates with an insanely narrow gap between them - you can’t open this like a straightening wand. The handle is very thick, which made it difficult to hold and manipulate. The handle has a button to spin the head of the curling wand, and a switch to change the direction of the spin for more natural looking curls.
The main issue for me was that you can’t open only got a very small amount of hair between the plates, and you have to feed it through the narrow space manually because there is no movement or clamp. It’s fiddly and it means that it takes way too long for me to curl my whole head of hair, and by the time I finished, the first curls were already dropping. I tried a few different styling creams and serums but nothing really helped. My arms were aching by the time I finished and it wasn’t worth the effort for me.
I have a very simple hair routine, I rarely blow dry or put a huge effort into styling my hair, so I’m looking for things that make it quick and simple. This was not it. I’m sure there are people who would think the amount of time it takes is pretty normal, and I like the reversible spin direction and the easy push button activation, but the fixed plates make this too difficult for me.
It’s a good concept with some innovative additions, but it’s not for me.
Long lasting Curls
I really enjoyed using this hair tool. This tool gives you curls with the longevity of straightener curls without all the finesse and effort that straightener curls take.
It was surprisingly light and easy to use. The air was also quieter than expected.
The rotating button makes curling so seamless and you can control how loose or tight your curl is with the number of rotations you apply to each strand.
You do have to really section your hair as it can be a little tricky to get large pieces to slide into the plates.
Despite multiple small sections this was still really quick to complete my whole head.
I also loved that the heat plates are concealed so it would be really hard to accidentally burn yourself using this tool and you don't overheat doing your hair as each curl is cooled.
I did have to fix up some fly aways with my straightener as it is purely a curling tool so if you need to do any smoothing in front sections of hair you may need another tool.
Over all a really unique tool that I was pleasantly surprised by! Super quick curls that last ages!
It might just be me ...
So the curling wand works, it curls your hair - did I end up with the salon finished wavy/curly look like I just stepped out of the salon hair? No. But I also think it might be me. I am not the fanciest when it comes to my hair, I brush it, pony tail it and if we're having a bad day, bun it. So this was a bit of a learning curve and I believe with more practice (and perhaps a few youtube videos) I can probably create something that's worth stepping outside in public with.
The product itself is lightweight, it's a great colour, noisier than I expected but it's also not that bad - I think I just expected it to be silent.
So a learning curve, if you know what you're doing this is the product for you, I however have to go practice some more.
Nice wand
At first I found the curling wand a bit tricky to use but once I got the hang of it, the wand performed nicely. As someone with long, straight hair, it took me nearly an hour to curl my whole head and I found the rotating barrel created soft waves which loosened throughout the day. Although the wand makes noise while operating, it wand heats up quickly, and the barrel rotation helps wrap hair automatically, which saved me effort once I got used to it. I appreciated the ergonomic handle and swivel cord — they made it easier to manoeuvre around my head, though I still wish the hair entry point was smoother. Overall, I’d recommend this curling wand for anyone aiming for gentle, beach-wave style.
Innovative design and great features
This curling wand from Remington does away with the traditional hot metal rod with clamp, it actually has two ceramic styling plates that are spaced slightly apart. So the idea is you have to slot a section of your hair into the gap, press a button to rotate, then glide your hair through. There are buttons to control the direction of rotation depending on whether you want to curl inwards or outwards. There are also 3 heat settings - 160, 190 and 210 degrees. There are some air vents that cools hair and locks in the curl as you work, and I love the fact that the outside of the barrel always remains cool to touch so I can use both my hands to hold the device without any risk of burning.
I found that it does take a bit of practice to get the hang of the curl direction, as well as how much hair to slot in in one go. Needless to say, to get the best results, you need to section your hair and think about curl direction first (which changes depending on whether you're holding the handle above or below your hair) so that you can get it done in one pass. For me I needed a couple of passes just because I was a bit slow to learn.
Once styled, the results do seem to stay until the next wash (as long as I didn't crush my curls from sleeping on them). Quite impressive! Overall I've enjoyed using this and I think with more practice I'd be able to do a better job. It's a fun an effective tool.
Salon results at home.
The Remington AIRvive™ Rotating Curling Wand works incredibly well! I love that it has three different settings, so I can easily choose how tight or loose I want my curls. It heats up super fast, which is perfect when I’m in a hurry. My hair glides effortlessly through the wand which is made easier with the Rotating swivel cord, and the result is smooth, frizz-free curls that last all day. It’s easy to use, saves time, and gives salon-quality results at home. Definitely one of the best curling wands I’ve ever used!
WOW OMG!
I’m most thankful to beautycrew for giving me the chance to trial the Remington Airvive Rotating Curling Wand! I have a strong interest in using all sorts of curling tools and this is a very exciting opportunity. I’ve had trouble in past with similar tools however this worked more easily. I had high expectations of Remington which after using many times the experience was quite satisfying. The curls turned out better than expected. Not too small or large. The amount of effort using this tool is so much less than my other tools. I really like the look and colour of tool.
Good Product but it Should Open
This curling wand definitely does the job of curling your hair. It has a great rotating button so that you can easily twist the wand to create the curl without actually turning your wrist. It's also not too heavy and the colour of this whole new line is a very girly and cute purple colour. However, i couldn't find an option to open the curler to get my hair inside the tool before styling. I believe you have to slide you hair into the tool instead of their being an option to open it. i found this difficult as i have thick hair and i found it took a while as i had to seperate my hair into very thin sections to get it to fit into the tool. It was also quite loud. Overall, if you have thinner, straight hair i would definitely recommend this product for you, but I wish there was an option to open the clamp to fit thicker hair and larger sections in to curl.
