Tousled texture

The look: A deep side part paired with sexy, unstructured waves

Recreate it: Use a wide-barrelled curling tong on dry, second-day hair to create the waves. Allow the hair to cool, then loosen the curls with your fingers and spray the mid-lengths and ends with a sea salt spray. Boost the texture by applying dry shampoo all over, before using your fingers to roughen up the style.

Chic chignon

The look: A smooth, sleek low bun

Recreate it: Prep damp hair with a smoothing lotion to help tame kinks and frizz, before using a paddle brush to blow-dry the hair poker straight. This will help close the hair cuticles for a sleek finish. Once dry, create a side part and run a frizz-taming serum through the mid-lengths and ends, then secure in a low ponytail at the back of the head. Finally, twirl the hair around the base of the ponytail and use bobby pins to keep it in place.

Half up, half down

The look: A casual, feminine daytime ‘do

Recreate it: Apply a styling mousse that boosts body and shine to the roots and mid-lengths of damp hair before blow-drying straight. Side part the hair, then secure the front section of the thinner side tightly with bobby pins at the back of the head. Loosely take the front section of the thicker side of the part and secure it at the back, too, allowing front layers to fall forward while maintaining volume at the crown.

Feminine flicks

The look: Shiny straight strands with a slight ‘70s flick

Recreate it: Prep damp hair with a smoothing balm, before blow-drying straight. Use a straightening iron to smooth sections of the hair at a time, making sure to use the curve-edged plates to create a flick just below ear level. Slightly curl the front section of hair on the thickly parted side to create a soft, feminine touch. Lastly, mist the hair with a lightweight shine spray for a polished finish.

Face-framing bun

The look: Glamorous low ‘do with modern face-framing waves

Recreate it: Add a curl-defining product to damp hair before blow-drying roughly, without a brush, to boost texture. Create a centre part then loosely secure the hair in a bun at the nape of the neck using a hair tie and bobby pins. Gently pull out front sections of the hair and curl with a medium-barrelled curling iron. Allow to the curls to cool, then loosen with fingers to create a tousled finish.

Cherie is somewhat of a digital dinosaur, having kick-started her beauty writing career back in 2009 at PRIMPED alongside industry expert Zoë Foster Blake. Since then, her words have appeared online and on paper for BEAUTYcrew, POPSUGAR, beautyheaven, New Idea, and Fitness First, while her marketing know-how has helped brands such as L'Oréal Paris, The Body Shop, A’kin, and Dr. LeWinn’s add a journalistic flair to their digital content. She is a vocal advocate for (physical) sunscreen, is rather fond of a bold lip, and is utterly terrible at styling hair.
