Over the last couple of days, the Brits showed off their Autumn Winter collections at London Fashion Week, which were full of warm knits and oversized coats. And while the cool weather change seems to be far away for us in Australia, the one thing that caught our attention for immediate inspiration was the statement accessories worn by the models.
Like makeup, the key to pulling off accessories is balance; having one loud or bright feature, and to pare back the rest of the details. So, if you’re looking to incorporate more accessories in your day-to-day, read on to discover the must-have makeup looks and product to let your accessories do the talking.
If you want to wear: hair clips
Just like hair clips can add sparkle and dimension to your hair, a touch of highlighter can bring your complexion to life. We love how the makeup at Toga Fall 2017 kept the highlight perfectly in balance so that the hair clips still made the statement. To try it yourself, use Nude by Nature Touch of Glow Highlight Stick in Champagne along your cheekbones and on the cupid’s bow for a subtle glow that looks natural.
If you want to wear: oversized round sunglasses
The British fashion label House of Holland found the perfect complement to oversized sunglasses: a simple pop of colour on the lips. Achieve the same at home with INIKA Certified Organic Lip Tint in Candy, which can nourish smackers and is made with organic and vegan ingredients.
If you want to wear: silver earrings
Let your statement silver do the talking by keeping your makeup naturally rosy. Take inspiration from the KTZ runway and opt for flushed cheeks and a touch of gloss on your lips to let your accessories shine. Add a swirl of Avon Luxe Temptation Blush in Show Stopping Pink to instantly warm up your complexion, and give it a natural glow.
If you want to wear: ornate sunglasses
When sporting such an overpowering accessory, do like the models at the Mulberry fall 2017 show and keep your look simple with a flawless base and supple lips. Maybelline New York Dream Velvet Foundation feels lightweight on skin and can be built up effortlessly to leave skin even and glowing. Keep your lips bare and hair swept up in a bun to finish.
If you want to wear: a beanie
Just a few months to go until beanie weather kicks in. The makeup seen at the DAKS show showed us a simple way to balance your snug winter look: using matching hues around your eyes.Work Estée Lauder Magic Smoky™ Powder Shadow Stick in Cool Ash along your top and bottom lash line, then use your ring finger to smudge the colour for a more lived-in look.
If you want to wear: colourful earrings
Take note of the makeup seen at the Christopher Kane Fall 2017 show, and pair your bold earrings with muted pink and peach tones on your eyes, cheeks and lips Frame the rest of your face by giving your brows natural definition with a brow gel. Urban Decay Brow Tamer Gel can help you tame any stray hairs, keeping them in place all day long.
