Without ditching your busy lifestyle

It’s great to be social and hardworking, but a constantly manic schedule combining the two can leave you stressed, drained and frazzled. The Smiling Mind is a free web- and app-based program designed to help cultivate calm and contentment by learning mindfulness and meditation. “In recent years, mindfulness meditation has surged in popularity for use in the treatment of stress, resilience, anxiety, depression and other physical and mental illnesses,” the website says. 2

Sleep well

Research suggests lack of sleep may trigger anxiety. Make getting a good night’s sleep a priority. “There is nothing more valuable than a good night’s sleep,” says model Karlie Kloss. “When I take care of myself, exercise and eat well, that’s what makes me feel most beautiful and confident in my skin.”

3

Exercise and be present

Working out combats stress by increasing feel-good endorphins. Lowering the so-called stress hormone cortisol, plus it improves mood and aids sleep. As model Gisele Bundchen, who schedules time for daily exercise, has said, “In order to be your best, you have to honour your own needs first.”
