"Yay for that!"

Since rising to fame on The Bachelor franchise, Abbie Chatfield has taught us a lot of things. From how to take pride in our bodies to her favourite beauty buys and skin care rituals, the 27-year-old has always been an open book. And when it comes to her open relationship with her boyfriend Konrad Bien-Stephen, her candidness is no different.

The couple announced the change to their love dynamic back in February, and have remained smitten with each other ever since. Knowing that we’d be craving news on how the non-monogamous ‘rules’ are going, Chatfield shared an update on her It's A Lot podcast.

“Um, nothing’s happened,” she opened jokingly. And by nothing, she means, “still haven’t f*cked anyone else bc WHEN WOULD I?” — as per an accompanying Instagram caption.

“We haven’t had sex in like three and a half weeks,” she continued, speaking of her and Bien-Stephen. “We’ve only had one night together where I’m like, not working, and that was last night.”

But busy schedule and logistics aside, Chatfield went on to share that she’s been having a hard time with her libido and not really masturbating either.

“I was talking to my therapist cause I was like ‘does that mean I don’t actually have feelings for Konrad’, which, I do, OBVIOUSLY.”

“But it’s not Konrad, it’s like I can’t be f***** and also my UTI issues, I just like, I really can’t be bothered with this.”

She also divulged that she hasn’t been eating or sleeping, which her therapist helped her to put into perspective and feel less guilty about having a quiet sex life.

“She was like, in terms of Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs, you aren’t eating or sleeping which is like, base level, so once you get that down pat you’ll wanna f***.”

It’s also worth noting that since the podcast aired, Chatfield and Bien-Stephen have broken their three-week hiatus. “We have now had sex bc I had a weekend off,” Chatfield wrote alongside the post. “Yay for that!”

Abbie Chatfield's open relationship timeline

Chatfield and Bien-Stephen officially began dating in November 2021. A few months later, the pair announced they’d mutually decided on an open relationship, also sharing the news via Chatfield’s podcast.

"Everyone, mummy and daddy aren’t breaking up," she began at the time. "We’re just having a different structure to our relationship."

After the couple laughed off the 'announcement', they shared how they still plan to set boundaries and that there are still 'rules'.

"I’ve never been in an open relationship before, but it’s something I want to explore and I want to navigate and I want to learn,” said Bien-Stephen. "And someone we met on the weekend was actually like, they gave us some good tips; go see a sex therapist, talk about what your boundaries are — because you can't just go and sleep with anyone."

Some of the 'ground rules' the couple detailed included that they can’t sleep with someone that they’ve had sex with before, they can’t sleep with their friends, and they can’t sleep with the same person more than once unless they discuss it beforehand.

“Someone said to me, ‘What’s the difference in just being f*ck buddies?’. Well, we’re moving in together, we’re getting a dog, we’re very much in love. The only thing that makes a relationship is not monogamy,” said Chatfield. "Monogamy isn’t important to me but honesty is, so we tell each other things."

"There's more to a relationship than just sex," echoed Bien-Stephen, who said he's "still in love and obsessed" with Chatfield after sleeping with someone else.

Fans of the couple have been quick to show their support, and we too are loving their honesty and willingness to share their relationship details.
