It’s clear that Off Campus’ Allie Hayes is a woman of exquisite taste. ‘In The Heights’ as her favourite musical? Screams taste. Her Drunk Shakespeare ensemble? Screams taste. Eyeing up Dean Di Laurentis? Screams taste.

She’s also got stellar taste in beauty products. As a beauty editor, I was obviously watching for one completely professional reason: to identify any beauty product I laid eyes on. Okay fine, it was to enjoy the stunning sight of my beloved John Logan and identify any beauty products I spied. And luckily, a shot of Allie applying lipstick provided an easy case to crack.

The product in question? Clinique Almost Lipstick in Black Honey ($38.40 at Adore Beauty or $48 at Clinique) — the cult-classic shade that’s been quietly reigning supreme since the ’70s.

Allie has definitely become a breakout beauty icon since the series aired. TikTok is obsessed with her shaggy haircut, and everyone’s stoked with the fact that her makeup looks are super wearable, compared to the more avant-garde makeup we’ve seen take over ever since Euphoria’s world domination.

That’s the best thing about Black Honey - it’s both incredibly chic and so easy to apply you could do it in the dark while climbing up to Dean Di Laurentis’ bedroom window. Considering the shade’s sheer, balmy finish and “your lips but better” effect, it makes perfect sense for Allie’s low-maintenance, cool-girl vibe.

The iconic lipstick has built a devoted following thanks to its unique formula, which looks slightly different on everyone. In the tube, the shade appears like a deep raisin-toned plum, but once applied, it melts into a sheer wash of berry that enhances natural lip colour instead of masking it.

It’s also no stranger to virality. Over the past few years, Black Honey has repeatedly sold out after being championed by celebrities, makeup artists and TikTok creators alike. But with Allie’s seal of approval, we advise grabbing a bullet before they sell out again.
