Is there anything more delightful than turning up at a world-class spa, being pampered with outstanding service (oh why yes, we’d love another glass of champagne!) and spoiling yourself with a relaxing treatment? We think not. Whether you’ve got a long weekend on the cards and want to get away from your hometown or just want to check out your local’s finest, here are our picks for the top spas in each state.
NSW: The Darling Spa, The Darling
You can’t go past a visit to The Darling when it comes to relaxation. Beyond its state-of-the-art facilities like the Hammam room (which features a heated marble surface for exfoliation treatments that you can arrange as an add-on), their treatments are inexplicably tranquil and worth trying. In particular, the Platinum Rare Facial is the ultimate treat for tired-looking skin all over your body as it utilises La Prairie’s Platinum Rare skin care products that help immediately boost radiance and restore hydration.
VIC: Crown Spa, Crown Melbourne
The Crown Spa is, without a doubt, a must-visit institution in the culture city. While there’s plenty of heavenly treatments for the ladies, if you’re looking for something to spoil your other half, try the ‘A Day for Him’ treatment. It’s been specially created for men that are constantly on the go, and involves a full body polish and detox massage that finishes with a hydrating facial to bring the complexion back to life. Good to know: a booking at the Spa allows you to experience Crown’s other facilities too, such as the 25-metre lap pool and steam room.
SA: Endota Spa, Barossa Valley
A long, hard day spent wine tasting your way through the Barossa Valley (it’s a tough job but somebody’s got to do it!) calls for a pampering session that will look after you from head to toe. The Endota Spa Rejuvenate treatment begins with a gentle scrub all over, followed by a relaxing massage with warming oils and a facial that helps balance out your skin. The red wine soak is what dreams are made of, and it’s even loaded with antioxidants that can fight signs of ageing. Bliss.
TAS: Saffire Freycinet Spa, Saffire Freycinet
Located a couple of hours from Hobart, the Saffire is a retreat away from the city that is incomparably luxurious. No square inch of your head, face and body is left unpampered with the Spa Saffire Restoration treatment, and you’ll feel instantly renewed after the comforting scalp massage, hydrating body cocoon, hot stone massage, foot treatment and facial.
WA: Como Shambhala, Como The Treasury
Como The Treasury is just a stone’s throw from the city centre, and the spa that’s located inside the grand hotel is the perfect place for a quick recharge (without compromising on quality). The Sodashi Pure Radiance Facial features an unbelievably sensorial experience, with a cocktail of plant-based skin care products like gels and mists layered onto skin to not only wake up your mind and body but also deeply nourish the complexion. Be sure to add on an eye lifting treatment to your spa agenda, as it’s a must for reviving lacklustre skin around eyes in an instant.
QLD: Qualia Spa, Qualia
Best described as a tropical escape hidden away on a corner of Hamilton Island, Qualia is the place to go to recoup lost energy. You can’t go wrong with the Elizabeth Arden PRO Ultimate Age-Defying Facial, which is a peel, mask, massage and facial in one; or the Shirodhara treatment that features warm oil poured over the forehead and temples to soothe the nervous system.
