7 liquid lipsticks you need in your makeup collection
That *won't* dry out your lips

Few formulas divide the beauty crowd like liquid lipsticks. It's understandable, too; with hard-to-beat boldness/longevity but a tendency to run a little drying, they definitely pose a bit of a conundrum.
But while some of us were absolutely willing to sacrifice comfort for colour for a minute there, the latest generation of liquid lippy formulas won't force you to do anything of the sort.
Basically, they offer all the amazing budge-proof pigment as the OG crop, only this time around they've figured out how to hydrate and condition the lips to the point where they actually feel (dare we say it) comfortable.
Thinking it sounds too good to be true? Look, we won't lie to you; sometimes it still is. With a product as temperamental as liquid lipstick, formula is everything. Find a winner, however, and you'll be a convert in no time.
Luckily, though, we've found quite a few that smash the goals we set for them (longevity, colour, hydration) straight out of the park. And because we're feeling extra generous, we've rounded them up for you...
Dear Dahlia Sensuous Matte Lip Suit Liquid Lipstick
One of the newest kids on the liquid lippy block, this vividly pigmented vegan option has made a big impression fast. Why? It’s anti-ageing formula features dahlia variabilis flower extract to smooth out lines as it goes on; very handy considering creases are practically liquid lipstick’s worst enemy.
Rouge Dior Ultra Care Flower Oil Liquid Lipstick
This long-wearing formula (which comes in a wide array of shades and finishes, FYI) may shout about the flower oil in its formula, but that’s not all that’s in there to leave lips hydrated; there’s sweet almond oil and shea butter as well. Is ‘most kissable’ a superlative? It will be after applying this.
Estée Lauder Pure Color Love Liquid Lipstick
There’s matte lipstick and then there’s this. The blend contains a comforting cocktail of pomegranate, mango and acai power oils that imparts a mega-pigmented matte coating of colour (in hues ranging from vampy burgundy to this next-level neon pink), and it smells like a vanilla cupcake.
Natasha Denona Mark Your Lips Metallic Liquid Lipstick
Liquid lipstick doesn’t always have to be matte – why not give metallic a whirl too? This metal-finish option puts a fun, iridescent twist on your everyday nude lip, but just in case you’re after something bolder, it also comes in three other stunning shimmer-spiked shades: copper, plum and black cherry.
Huda Beauty Liquid Matte Lipstick
After a bright that won’t budge? Try this. It’s also so light that you’ll legitimately forget that you’re even wearing it (until you catch a glimpse of your gorgeous self in the mirror, of course). Any glassware your pout comes into contact with will be totally unaware, too – when it says ‘transfer-free’ it means it.
Guerlain KissKiss Liquid Lipstick
Our major gripe with liquid lipsticks? How easy (and tempting) they make the whole ‘overdrawing’ thing. Luckily, this one’s loaded with pout-plumping hyaluronic acid, so you can enhance fullness without drawing outside your shape and looking like you’re fresh from clown college.
Chanel Rouge Allure Ink Second-Skin Intense Matte Liquid Lip Colour
Rocking a red lip is always a good idea in our opinion, but look, we’re well aware it isn’t always the most comfortable aesthetic. This luxuriously fine liquid formula, however, will feel next to weightless on lips, while holding strong all day thanks to its waterproof status.
