Timeline for your pre-wedding beauty prep

Pre-Wedding Bridal Beauty Timeline - Julianne Hough

What to do in the months leading up to your big day

Walking down the aisle soon? To look your best and most beautiful on your wedding day, you need to get a head start on your bridal beauty routine. Here’s what you need to do and when.

Kick-start your regimen by evaluating your skin concerns. If treatments are an option, find a skin specialist you feel comfortable with. “A qualified therapist will assess pigmentation, acne, hydration levels and any skin concerns you have, and set you up with a skin detoxing plan,” says Cara Doncovio, National Education Coordinator at Endota Spa. “Detoxing the skin is a gentle yet effective way to protect and prepare the skin for a natural glow without damaging or stripping it.”

If you’re planning a DIY routine, be diligent. Cleanse, tone and moisturise morning and night – paying attention
to your back, décolletage, and your hands and feet too, which are likely to be on show on your big day. You’ll also need to book in a hair and makeup artist now.

If you want to experiment with your hair, see a hairstylist now! “I find a lot of brides want to grow their hair long, but don’t realise this is part of an all-round healthy hair regimen that should start sooner rather than later,” says Pantene ambassador and celebrity stylist Remington Schulz. Apply a conditioning mask at least once
a week to repair, protect and strengthen hair. If you want to transition or grow your colour out, don’t risk permanent damage at the last minute. “Doing a major colour change now will mean your hairstylist can tweak and
touch it up closer to the date.”

Meet with your hairdresser for a hair trial. “Take images for reference, as pictures speak a thousand words when it comes to wedding styles!” Schulz says. “And don’t be afraid to ask your hairstylist to change the finished look if there’s something you’re not happy with.” Start your hair removal routine now, too. “Each time you remove hair, it takes between four to six weeks to grow back. Keeping up your hair removal routine means you will be smooth and hair-free by your wedding day,” says Nad’s beauty expert Natalie Ismiel.
