You guys, blue eyeliner is everywhere at the moment – and it looks fun, fresh and anything but boring. If you want to get in on the Pantone Colour of The Year and create a coloured eyeliner look, but don’t know how to do it without looking too OTT, we’re here to show you how. The trick is to ditch big lashes and falsies and go for a minimal mascara and eyeshadow look, teamed with a bright blue liner. Follow our guide to wearing blue eyeliner for a cool, eye-popping look.

Toolkit

First up, you’ll need an eye primer to ensure things don’t get slippy. We used Nude by Nature Perfecting Eye Primer. Then, you’ll need some neutral eyeshadows. We picked Australis Cosmetics Glamour Eyeshadow Palette because it has a selection of cool-toned shades for a soft, natural finish. One of the main things you’ll need is obviously a blue eyeliner. We’re using Revlon So Fierce! Vinyl Eyeliner in Royal Blue because it’s waterproof, smudge-proof and big on colour. You’ll also need some mascara (we used Lancôme Hypnôse Mascara).

1

Prime your lids

Keep your eye makeup in place by applying an eye primer to clean, dry lids. Using your ring finger or a small brush, gently apply the primer across your eyelid, from the inner eye corner outwards. Make sure you give it a couple of minutes to set before moving on to the next step.

2

Start with a neutral base

Apply a neutral shade of eyeshadow (think taupe or beige) through the crease of your eye. We went brush-free and just used our ring finger to blend, but if that’s not your jam you can use a small eyeshadow brush instead.

3

Line your top lash line

Starting from the inner corner of your eyes, apply a smudge-proof eyeliner to the top lash line using small strokes. Keep the line thin and as close to your lash line as possible. Flick the eyeliner into a wing at the outer corner of your eye.

4

Add some volume

Once your wings are in place (look at you go!), brush two coats of mascara through the bottom and top lashes for extra definition.

The final look

Ta-dah! A blue eyeliner look that’s fun, fresh and oh-so on-trend.
