Kiehl’s Calendula Herbal Extract Alcohol-Free Toner

This has been my long term holy grail toner and I'm surprised that the review for Kiehl's Calendula herbal extract alcohol free toner doesn't have higher rating by others. It's soothing and cooling on the skin, the fact it's alcohol free meant that it won't enlarge my pores or irritate my sensitive skin. I admit that it's on the higher end of toners but it's a big bottle which lasts you a very long time and it's great to know that you are paying for high quality ingredients. I particularly like the flower petals inside the toner, it's so cute. The only thing I wish they do different is using a glass bottle as opposed to a plastic bottle so that it would be more environmentally friendly.

This toner is for normal to oily skin including sensitive. It is formulated with calendula and is meant to be gentle, soothing and balancing. Directions say to use day or night by moistening a cotton pad. The product has a nice herbal scent, and did not irritate my skin. However, I didn't find it very hydrating or soothing either on my combination skin. I find that toners with ferments and/or centella much more soothing. It wasn't bad, but it was just unremarkable for a product that is supposed to be a best-seller.

I recently tried this toner as I wanted a toner that was alcohol free. It's also great if you have sensitive skin which I do suffer from occasionally. The toner made my skin feel super soft, smooth and clean. I use this toner after cleansing my skin. I put some toner on a cotton pad and apply to my face avoiding my delicate eye area. I sometimes get pimples and this toner really helps to clear them up quite quickly. I would recommend this to anyone who has acne, pimples, blackhead and sensitive skin. It has worked wonders for me.

I had positive results using this toner. I found it beneficial for my skin when I had a breakout. I loved that it was alcohol free and therefore non drying. My break out improved over night when using this toner but did not disappear. I found that it was non irritating and it didn’t make my skin shiny. The flower petals it contains makes me feel like I am using a pure and natural product. I would definitely recommend this for small problem areas, but I’m not sure how it would be if you had a lot of acne.

There was a time I worked in retail and customers would keep coming and purchasing this toner! I became curious, even this is meant for sensitive skin and I don't have sensitive skin. The actual flowers in the product was actually visually unpleasant for me, it also makes the product looked a bit cloudy. However I gave it a go nevertheless. I found this toner very gentle on skin - as gentle as pure water. No tingling or tightening sensation which was great! I noticed other reviewers commented on the floral fragrance - was it just me? I didn't think I smelt anything, and remembered finding this quite strange especially when I was actually looking at the flower in the bottle (with an instant panic questioning my visual and olfaction co-ordination). Unfortunately (or fortunately) there was not a longer term visible result - but at that time I did not have any particular skin concern, and was glad that at least it did not break me out.

This product is my go to when my skin has a random flip-out period. It is also alcohol-free, which is always good for sensitive skin! Calendula helps calm the skin down and within weeks, my skin is back to normal. However, it is highly priced and there are many toners out on the market with calendula in it. If it wasn't for the product, it is a basic, safe, calming toner which is worth 5 stars.
