SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic Serum

CE Ferulic is a beautiful serum. Amongst other ascorbic acid serums, CE Ferulic is pleasant to use, despite also having a hot dog water smell (standard for ascorbic acid) it is subtle and bearable compared to other products. CE Ferulic is also very moisturising on my skin. It is even okay to use on its own without moisturiser sometimes. CE Ferulic gives my skin great luminosity and radiance. However, it does not have an impact on pigmentation (by this point in time I have used Skinceutical's vitamin C serum continuously for around 12 weeks). I see CE Ferulic as more of a maintenance serum rather than a life-changing serum. It did provide a good luminosity to my skin, however it certainly did not have the same wow factor as compared to, say for example, Skinceutical's Silymarin CF. However, for a good maintenance serum I think $233 is overpriced compared to what is otherwise available in the market. I am also not sure why, with this hefty price tag, the serum does not come in an airless pump and opaque bottle given that ascorbic acid is so prone to oxidising. I am not really enjoying the dropper bottle format but I have been storing this in the dark in my drawer and wrapped in foil. It has not oxidised. Overall, yes I would purchase but only as part of a bundle and/or with gift with purchase.

This is one of the most amazing serums I’ve ever used. It transforms my skin into glowing younger looking skin. It makes my skin more radiant and even toned. It’s easily applied with the dropper and doesn’t have a perfumed fragrance, to me it smells just like the ingredients. I love that this is a vitamin serum that actually works, it protects my skin under sun cream during the day and against environmental aggressors. I feel that it prevents my skin from getting Melasma and keeps it smooth and bright. The only downside is it’s price tag, it is very expensive and definitely not in everyone’s price range.

I have just finished my first full size bottle of SkinCeuticals CE Ferulic and can report I will be purchasing another ASAP. I wish I didn't love this product because it is so expensive and doesn't smell great but it is SO GOOD. I inspect my skin in the rear vision mirror on my daily drive to work and see a noticeable difference when a I am using this product. My skin texture appears flawless when I apply SkinCeuticals CE Ferulic under my SPF and BB Cream. It makes my pores look imperceptible. As for the long term effects, only time will tell but considering the amount of dermatologists who recommend this product I am confident I will not regret using it. At $200 a bottle it is by far the most expensive product in my routine. A little goes a long way, I use 3 to 4 drops every day and the bottle has lasted 9 months. The smell is like salami but it fades quickly and just makes my skin look so good that I am willing to repurchase.

Skinceuticals CE FERFULIC serum comes in a 30ml glass bottle that is tinted dark to protect it from light and external factors.  It is made in the USA & comes with a dropper applicator. Using the rubber dropper applicator is easy- you squeeze a few drops of the serum onto your fingers and it comes out easily. This serum has a very intensive smell- its quite strong & off putting but this is because there is no added fragrance or nasty ingredients.  I apply 4-5 drops onto my face & neck as per the instructions and it easily spreads over the skin. The smell does fade & is barely noticeable once it has absorbed into the skin.  It takes around 5 minutes to fully absorb into the skin as it is quite watery but heavy serum- but it does.  I use it in the am  and follow with a moisturiser and sunscreen- you must wear spf with this one. Included in this formula are proven anti-oxidant & anti-ageing ingredients. Its like a super serum.  It contains 15% pure L-ascorbic Acid and 1% Alpha Tocopherol (Vitamin E) as well as Ferulic acid at 0.5%. Ascorbic acid has been proven to work better with the addition of vitamin e and ferulic acid delivering deeper into the skin.  These ingredients protect against free radials, uv radiation and stimulate collagen. Once absorbed this serum claims to not be able to washed or rubbed off - remaining on the skin for up to four days- delivering excellent and ongoing protection. Another fantastic thing about this product is that it really absorbs into your skin, and you can feel that it's not going to rub or sweat off - however it doesn't leave an icky residue feeling on your skin at all. Just a healthy, moisturised and protected feeling. I have combination skin that has fine lines & pigmentation. Using a whole bottle of this serum once a day provided me excellent results.  Within a week I notice a glow to my skin that look natural & lasted even on days not using this serum.  This serum also faded my pigmentation and scars dramatically- my pigmentation marks have almost diminished - they are hardly noticeable at all. Scars have decreased- amazing stuff.  But the glow is worth it!  The serum doesn't cause me any clogged pores, breakouts or irritate my skin in any way. It just absorbs and I'm good to go. I do find this serum quite rich on my skin though- and it feels very moisturising as well so Id be careful with extra oily/ acne prone skin.  Really this is a winner - it provides daily antioxidant protection with support and fades fine lines and pigmentation.  I also don't develop any more pigmentation spots using this. Even with using 4-5 drops a day the Skinceuticals CE FERFULIC serum lasts for months. My bottles last around 4-5 months. Unfortunately and my only complaint is that the serum does oxidise quite quickly- within 3 months it starts to change from a clear serum to a yellow colour. This is a sign that the ascorbic acid in this product has started to oxidise and wont be as effective. You can still use it but the ascorbic acid will have decreased. By the fourth month timeframe you will need to stop using it as it wont have much effect or results on the skin.  I would highly recommend this one to those looking for antioxidant protection and fading spots. Using it every morning with daily spf is a great overall step in the promotion of healthy ageing. Your skin will thank you- it will glow, look radiant and fight ageing.

I've been trying to simplify my routine of late and figured it was best to look into what dermatologists use themselves to find a few proven effective products. After much research, it became clear that this particular product was the most popular of all in the skin care experts own personal routines. So I took the risk and purchased it. The serum claims to protect skin against UV damage ,brighten skin and help fade spotsand marks whilst providing these benefits for no less than 72 hours. It sounded like exactly what my blemished, sun damaged skin was in need of! Now this particular product is by far the most expensive I have ever bought so I was hoping for some amazing results to justify the big spend. This comes packaged in a dark glass bottle which I like as it will help keep the ingredients as fresh as possible. To use,you simply dispense about 4 drops with the dropper applicator and spread over face. Now, the first thing you notice is the smell. It is truly awful. It smells like hot dog water to me and I really did not like it at all. Fortunately ,this horrible smell fades within seconds of application.  The serum is brown and surprisingly watery. You need to get it from your hands to your face asap before it disappears! I find it best to apply after using a toner or mist as it seems to help it spread easier.It starts of feeling slightly sticky but it absorbs fast and there is no tacky feeling remaining.  My skin immediately looked more balanced after use and makeup went on so much better! I was impressed. After a few weeks of daily use I can honestly say I feel much more confident in my own skin. My skin is smoother,fine lines have decreased and my skin has a "glow" it never had before. All this,plus the added benefit of sun protection and antioxidants!  The product will last about 5 or 6 months of daily use at this rate and I am pleased to be able to say I am happy with the results.  This product has definitely earnt itself a permanent place in my skin care routine. It's an indulgent purchase but if you can afford to splurge, Skinceutical's CE Ferulic is worth it!  The serum is a nice consistency, not too oily and easily spreads and soaks into your skin. I didn't experience any irritation with this serum like I have with other Vitamin C products and can happily use a few drops every morning. After inital use my skin felt hydrated and glowy and after a few months I feel a lot brighter and some old hyper-pigmentation from cystic acne has started to fade. It sits well underneath moisturiser and makeup so is approapriate for morning or evening use.
