The eco-conscious beauty brands to know about in 2023

The lowdown: What better brand to kick off World Environment Day than the results-backed, seaweed-enriched and sustainability-driven VOYA? Born out of the desire to improve an existing system, this luxury skin care brand has utilised the skin-rejuvenating benefits of wild, organic seaweed as it simultaneously champions environmental conservation, ethical sourcing of ingredients and sustainable practices at every step within the supply chain from harvesting to packaging. 

January 2023 marked an exciting time for VOYA as they announced their partnership with the social enterprise, Plastic Bank. Over the next two years, VOYA has made a pledge to stop the equivalent of over two million single-use plastic bottles from entering the ocean.

Based out of Parma, Italy, every product has been created with 100 per cent clean energy, deriving its energy from renewable sources such as photovoltaic panels and solar power since 2006. 

Try: Davines Oi Liquid Luster. One of the brand's newer launches, this illuminating hair treatment has been developed to keep our hair bright, soft and sparkly.

The lowdown: Tata Harper is one of the most buzzworthy brands in the beauty industry, and it's easy to see why. Associated with a slew of certifications such as PETA Beauty Without Bunnies (so there's no animal testing involved) and Ecocert (the brand falls under the organic beauty umbrella), Tata Harper features products that are cruelty-free and made via environmentally-friendly processes. Tata Harper also encourages the "more is more" skin care philosophy, which involves layering products (with natural ingredients, of course) to encourage optimal skin health.
