VIDEO: The super-simple side-twist

TRESemme’s perfect second-day hairstyle solution

Beauty Crew Editor / March 30 2016

While the hair look created for Hervé Leger at New York Fashion Week by TRESemmé Hair Director Orlando Pita was undoubtedly a grungy, edgy look, it’s also a style that’s easy enough to recreate for those second-day hair conundrums when you’re not quite sure to do with your locks.

Watch on above to see how simple it is to create TRESemme’s New York Fashion Week style, or read below for the simple step-by-step.

1

Deal with any oiliness

To start, grab some TRESemmé Instant Refresh Volumising Dry Shampoo and spray some on your roots, making sure to keep your arm about 30 cm away to avoid white patches.

2

Start your twist

Then grab a 3cm thick section of hair next to your part and start twisting downwards. As you work the twist down, keep grabbing small sections from your hairline to add to the twist, making sure you wind it around with the rest of the section.

TOP TIP: If your hair is getting in the way while you twist, keep it out of the way by securing it into a ponytail.

3

Secure in place

Once you reach the end of your section of hair, use a bobby pin and secure the section to the back of your head.

4

Spray for hold

To keep your twist in place, finish with TRESemmé Salon Finish Extra Hold Hairspray.

5

Style the rest of your hair

You can either keep your hair out, so you only see a small section of the twist, or if you’d prefer to show off your twist a bit more, tie your hair back into a low ponytail or bun.

SIDE twist
TOP TIP: The look at New York Fashion Week actually went from a twist, into a braid, and then back into a twist, so if you’re game enough, give it a try!
