The Golden Globes hairstyle you can *actually* afford to recreate

Hunter Schafer can do no wrong…

Content Producer / January 08 2024

If you’re anything like us, your eyes were glued to the 81st Golden Globes red carpet from the moment it began. Sure, we may have had to mute the interviews once or twice (sorry not sorry), but it was all worth it for the celebrity glitz and glam.

Of course as the celebs swanned by, we eagerly eyed up their stunning fashion looks, but as true beauty lovers our eyes really couldn’t stray past the perfectly applied makeup and their strands strung into oh-so-stunning looks.

The celeb in question whose elegant tresses caught our eye the most? Only the endlessly stylish Hunter Schafer. With her shimmering strands slicked back as a perfect juxtaposition to her floating dress, we just had to wonder how did her hair get so sleek? And how does one recreate that at home (for all our ultra-formal events, you know)?

Well we have the (surprisingly affordable) answers! Lacy Redway, hairstylist to the stars, spilled all her secrets on Schafer’s shiny and sleek double-chignon. Starting with damp hair (a hot tip we’d picked up from Sofia Richie Grainge) Redway works TRESemmé Extra Hold Mousse ($11 at JWN shop) through the hair to create the super slick base of the look.

She may have glossed over the important twisting and twirling chignon details (we guess we’ll have to leave the intricate looks to the professionals) but we know that once the hair had dried she went in with the ever trusty TRESemmé Salon Finish Styling Hairspray Extra Hold ($7.99 at Priceline) on a paddle brush to smooth over any flyaways. She then finished the sophisticated style off with a shimmering touch of TRESemmé Hair Heat Tamer Protective Styling Spray (don’t let the name fool you, this spray packs a major shining punch) ($7.99 at Priceline).

And there we have it! An affordable (albeit a little tricky to recreate, but we believe in you) Golden Globes hairstyle. We know what we’ll be sitting in front of a mirror trying to replicate tonight!

Naturally her love for style soon extended to beauty, and Emma landed firmly in the beauty and wellness world thanks to an internship-turned-role at local Australian fragrance brand Maison Blanche. One thing that remained consistent whether unpacking accessories or creating social content? Her commitment to an always-perfect manicure. Luckily, she’s since turned her talents to helping her readers achieve the same, writing about all things beauty and wellness. Emma is now a Content Producer for BEAUTYcrew, with her words and recommendations also appearing across beautyheaven. Emma loves the process of diving deep into the world of testing (and writing) about everything from haircare to fragrance. When she’s not slathering her skin in something new, she’s going for an early morning stroll to catch a stunning sunrise (coffee in hand, of course), because life’s all about that wellness balance after all.
