The Best Skin Experts To Follow On Instagram

From product recommendations to ingredient explanations, it’s all here

Beauty Crew Digital Content Editor / July 12 2019

Instagram isn’t just a place for selfies, #foodstagrams and travel snaps; it’s also a great spot to look for advice and inspo on basically anything you’re interested in. And if you’re anything like us, skin care is right up there with your favourite things!

So, we’ve curated a list of our favourite skin care experts to follow on Instagram where you’re certain to find loads of product recommendations, advice on treating different skin concerns, and explanations on ingredients.

Dr Barbara Sturm

@drbarbarasturm’s feed is a whirlwind picture show of informative vlogs and posts by the German dermatologist, which also showcases her incredible range and regrammed posts from her adoring celeb following. Sturm is an expert on a huge range of topics like pollution’s effect on the skin and treating skin inflammation, and when it comes to advice, she holds nothing back.

Paula Begoun

Paula Begoun is one of the OG Internet skin care advisors, and has since spawned a hugely successful skin care line, Paula’s Choice. Not sure what order to apply your skin care products in? Or perhaps you’re wondering what the difference between BHAs and AHAs are? @paulaschoice has got your back! You’ll find loads of invaluable skin advice and ingredient information being dished out via her feed.

The Skincare Edit

The creator of @theskincareedit_ is a former beauty and health editor named Michelle Villett, so you could say she knows a thing or two when it comes to beauty! From product recs to skin care tips and celebrity skin care regimens, it’s all here.

Victoria and Gloria Lu

Victoria and Gloria Lu are a skin care chemist duo and the brains behind @chemist.confessions. On their page, you’ll find a heap of skin care myths debunked and our personal fave – their series on decoding ingredient lists (aka #decodethatIL), in which they explain how different ingredients work in practice.

Dr. Davin Lim

@davinlim is an Australian laser dermatologist doling out priceless info like there’s no tomorrow on a huge range of topics including everything from reducing large pores to how to get the most out of your skin care actives. We love his candid manner and the way he presents his wealth of info in easily digestible short video snippets.

Michelle Wong

Michelle Wong of @labmuffinbeautyscience is a Sydney-based science educator with a PhD in chemistry. On her beautifully edited grid, you’ll find easy-to-understand explanations of the science behind beauty products and stacks of authentic product reviews.

Hannah English

Self-proclaimed sunscreen queen Hannah English of @ms_hannah_e is a scientist working in clinical research who has an honours degree in pharmacology of melanoma treatment. She is therefore a total expert when it comes to the sun’s effect on the skin and how to protect yourself. Follow her for epic shelfies, skin care reviews and, of course, sunscreen recommendations.

Once you’ve got your fill of all of the best #skinspo, you might also like to check out some of our favourite makeup artists on Instagram.
