The best beauty looks from the 2019 Critics’ Choice Awards
From vampy lips to inspo-worthy bangs, these celebs stole the spotlight

Just a week after the Golden Globes’ colourful start to awards season (check out some of the best makeup looks here), the 24th Annual Critics’ Choice Awards are upon us - and you’re going to bet we have our feelers out for some fresh hair and makeup inspo.
And boy, did the red carpet deliver.
Check out some of our favourite celebrity beauty looks below.
Um, that HAIR! How cool does Charlize look? The actress wore her blonde locks swept over to one side in a super deep side part, with small braids that created the illusion of an undercut (could have fooled us!). This edgy hairstyle put the spotlight on her enviable cheekbones and her terracotta smoky eye (this colour works wonders on her green eyes!).
Mandy Moore matched her lippie to her eyeshadow, opting for a pop of pinky-purple. Wearing her hair loose and tucked behind her ears, her eyeshadow was blended over half her lid, adding a playful and fun vibe to her entire makeup look. If you’re wondering how to nail bright makeup this season, take your cues from Mandy!
This could be one of the prettiest darn red carpet looks we’ve seen so far this year. Gemma looked like an absolute VISION, wearing her long dark locks parted in the middle and tied back in a long, loose plait. She accessorised her hair with two black ribbons (this trend is still going strong!) and kept her makeup look neutral, allowing her luminous skin to take centre stage.
Elizabeth’s bangs are absolute goals. The actress wore her hair in a chic updo, leaving her piece-y fringe and some effortless-looking layers to frame her face. She chose a swipe of dark red lippie to finish the look – simple, yet totally glam.
10/10 on the vampy lip, Emily! The Shameless actress looked utterly stunning with her hair slicked back in an elaborate updo (it’s like two stacked buns?), her perfectly groomed brows and THOSE dark plum lips! We’re *major* fans of this whole combo.
Kristen went for a tousled style on the hair front, which kept her whole beauty game looking effortless and fresh. She lined her upper and lower lash line with kohl liner (hint: only lining them to the halfway point like Kristen has makes eyes look bigger and brighter!), and added lashings of mascara to accentuate her blue peepers even further. She wore a pinky-nude lip and kept the rest of her look pretty low-key – and TBH, we would too if our skin looked that glowy.
Lady Gaga ditched her blue locks from the Golden Globes and opted for a more minimalistic look. She wore her newly-platinum blonde hair in glamorous waves, opting for black liner, false lashes and a glossy lip.
Are you taking note? Because it looks like the vampy lip is totally a thing right now. Similar, to Emmy Rossum, Chrissy opted for a bold statement lip – and it looked oh, so good! Teamed with super glowy skin and a voluminous blowout that was styled in a flippy lob (word on the street has it that this is the newest must-have hairstyle for 2019), she absolutely oozes Hollywood glam.
We can’t get enough of Constance Wu’s new fringe! She kept her style simple and chic, styling her locks straight and her fringe in an effortless side-swept style. A hint of soft pink blush and a nude lip completed her pretty-as-heck look.
Nicole took to the red carpet wearing a sultry-looking navy blue smoky eye that was blended over her upper lid and lower lash line. The Aussie actress showed off her enviable complexion (seriously, we need to know her skin care routine), teamed with highlighted cheekbones and a glossy pink lip.
Olivia Munn always looks like utter perfection on the red carpet. And this year’s Critics’ Choice Awards was no exception. The star opted for a statement red lip and wore her hair in a half-up half-down number, with loose tendrils framing her face. The pop of colour on her cheeks kept her look fresh and feminine.
Is it just us or does Sandra look goddam adorable?! It’s all the proof you need that curls and bangs are still one of the hottest hairstyles getting around. Take your inspo from Sandra and unchain yourself from your ghd – 2019 is the year of embracing your natural hair texture!
Now THIS is a topknot! Nina swept up her hair in a stylish updo, leaving out a few face-framing strands for an effortless, undone look (could this be a new trend?!). As for her makeup, she kept things pretty neutral with luscious lashes and a pink lip.
Actress Kiki Layne from If Beale Street Could Talk showed off a stunning half-up half-down bun, which was sleek up top and voluminous and flowing at the back. She wore a bejewelled star-shaped accessory at the crown, while her silver metallic eyeshadow worked to accentuate her brown eyes. And, do we spot another dark lip?
Actress Amandla Stenberg from The Hate U Give seriously brought her glow-game. Sweeping back her locks in a sleek updo, the star let her luminous makeup her top feature, and complemented it with a golden metallic eyeshadow and black winged eyeliner.
Want to take a squiz at some of the best makeup looks from the 2019 Golden Globes? Spoiler: There was one trend that was *everywhere* on the red carpet.
