3 ways to style long hair for extra volume
Some days big hair is just better
If you find straight strands too harsh or simply like a little bounce in your long hair, volume should be your number one focus. Here’s three ways volume can shake up your hairstyle to create three different looks.
1
Surfer chic
To perfect Chrissy Teigen-style surfer girl waves, prep wet strands with volumising mousse before blow-drying. “I then use two irons –one [1.25cm] and one [2.5cm] –to wave the hair,” Teigen’s hairstylist, Giannandrea, reveals. “Lastly, I spray hairspray all over and shake the whole head a few times,” he adds.

Old Hollywood
To add grit and densify strands, spritz ample amounts of volumising spray into freshly washed hair. To get Kate Upton’s look, Peter Butler used texturising spray before blow-drying each section with a round brush.

Messy bedhead
Borrow Kate Moss and Brigitte Bardot’s sultry hair secret: styling powder. Sprinkle a small amount into roots and mid-lengths and brush it through as your final styling step. Hair powder will bulk up even the finest of strands.
