The product

The prospect of introducing oils into a haircare routine can be shudder-inducing to some.

And while we understand the chagrin attached to excessively moisturising formulas, as far as hydration is concerned, there’s no better ingredient for the task than an oil.

The Herbal Essences bio:renew Argan Oil of Morocco Shampoo and Herbal Essences bio:renew Argan Oil of Morocco Conditioner have found the balance between nourishing strands with a touch of argan oil while ensuring a lack of greasiness post-wash.

Forget heavy, traditional oil-based formulas of the past because this shampoo and conditioner duo is set to effectively strengthen, nourish, hydrate, smooth, and soften hair with ease.

Plus, you can rinse, wash and repeat with a clear conscience thanks to an ingredients list that boasts up to 90 per cent of natural origin ingredients, and is free from nasties such as parabens (phew).

Here’s what our panel of Review Crew® testers had to say about this strengthening shampoo and conditioner duo.

The panel

Beauty Crew sent the Herbal Essences bio:renew Argan Oil of Morocco Shampoo and Herbal Essences bio:renew Argan Oil of Morocco Conditioner to a panel of women aged 18 to 36 with normal, dry, or damaged hair.

The lowdown

Here’s what the Review Crew® loved about the Herbal Essences bio:renew Argan Oil of Morocco Shampoo and Herbal Essences bio:renew Argan Oil of Morocco Conditioner.

The way it smoothed frizz: Our members loved the way the shampoo and conditioner helped to smooth out any frizz they were experiencing, making their hair more manageable and easier to style.

It was hydrating but not oily: Toeing the line between hydrated hair and oily strands can be tough, but our Review Crew® members found the argan oil-infused formula provided lightweight moisture without weighing down their hair.

It left their hair feeling soft and nourished: The strengthening formula was put to the test by our reviewers and came up trumps in the nourishing department. Many members noted that their hair felt softer as a result of using the shampoo and conditioner.

The verdict

“[Herbal Essences bio:renew Argan Oil of Morocco Shampoo] was quite nourishing and made my hair feel nice and smooth in conjunction with the conditioner. With continued use, I believe my hair will continue to strengthen. One of the great features about this product is that it doesn't make hair too oily; I have tried similar argan oil shampoos which make my hair very, very oily. I also have quite a sensitive scalp but had no reactions with this shampoo. Also, the scent is to die for! It was very elegant and not overpowering like some other hair products. I would recommend this product for anyone who has dry hair, sensitive skin and loves the smell of a beautiful shampoo!”

“I’ve been using this Herbal Essences bio:renew Argan Oil of Morocco shampoo and conditioner set for a couple of weeks now and I can really feel a difference in the amount of hair breakage! My hair always feels silky smooth and smells rich after every wash and they are quite easy to brush and style after it. It leaves my hair soft and feeling nourished. I appreciate that it doesn't have any colourants as well. If you want your hair smelling great and feeling awesome, buy this product if you want to be disappointed! It not only smells amazing but works very well.”

“[Herbal Essences bio:renew Argan Oil of Morocco Conditioner] is very thick in consistency but still spreads through my hair nicely. The smell is absolutely divine! If you are not a fan of florals and are more into vanilla, spice and sandalwood type smells, you will love this. I like that the terms and ingredients are broken down in an easy to understand chart on the container. Also the product is PETA approved - no animal testing. And the contain is made from 25% recycled material. My partner has been using this one as well. I found my hair so soft afterwards. I had been using a shampoo for oily scalp and didn't realize how frizzy my hair had gotten. One use of this and I saw a noticeable difference straight away.”

“I used the [Herbal Essences bio:renew Argan Oil of Morocco Conditioner] in conjunction with their matching shampoo. Both have a very lovely scent that subtly stays on the hair for a few days. The conditioner itself is thick and creamy. It applies well over the hair and washes out easily. After a few uses of this conditioner, I have found that my hair is definitely visibly less frizzy. I am prone to oily hair, but found this shampoo/conditioner duo to leave my hair clean and oil free for days. My hair feels incredibly soft and light, not weighed down at all.”
