Recreate your routine with these self-isolation-friendly fixes

Beauty Crew Junior Digital Content Editor / February 23 2023

Can’t schedule in a visit with your go-to beautician? That doesn’t mean you have to miss out on the opportunity to unwind and indulge in your favourite treatments. You can basically replicate most beauty treatments at home – which means you can still get your desperate fix of R&R from the comfort of your living room.

BABOR’s National Trainer, Shelley Petersen says that it’s just as important to look after your health, wellbeing and general state of mind as it is to ensure you’re keeping up with your regular treatments.

“When we are stressed our body releases cortisol, which interferes with the skins natural functions and reflects in a compromised complexion. Try to remain calm and combat stress-related skin concerns (breakouts, oiliness, dryness and redness) with targeted products,” says Petersen.

As far as our skin care routine goes, Petersen says that we need to be mindful to maintain the level of discipline we would in our normal day-to-day, as “it’s easy to become complacent with our skin health routines when we are at-home, skipping important steps, not drinking enough water and snacking on unhealthy treats.”

Your work-from-home setup is also the perfect opportunity to utilise the climbing number of masks you have tucked away in your beauty cupboard. “Staying indoors and at-home is the perfect time to use masks to enhance your beauty routine,” says Petersen. “Try supercharging the effects of your mask by applying a serum underneath. This is a great beauty boost whilst working from home or binging on your favourite Netflix show.”

Now that we’re equipped with these expert-guided tips, it’s time to hunker down and put the wheels into motion. Below, we’ve rounded up seven of the best at-home beauty treatments to keep you looking fresh and you don't even need to step out your front door.

Skin Citizen Citizen Saver Bundle

Emulating a facial from the comfort of your own home is easy peasy with the Skin Citizen Citizen Saver Bundle ($126 at Skin Citizen). Treat yourself to 30 minutes of relaxing downtime while you wait for the niacinamide, propanediol, and betaine-enriched face mask to do its thing. Then slather a healthy serving of the squalane moisturiser onto your skin and unwind with a lengthy face massage.

Sisley Self-Tanning Hydrating Facial & Body Skin Care

As we slowly transition into the new season, it’s no secret that most of us would normally be scheduling in regular fake tanning appointments. While that’s not an option, French skin care and cosmetics house Sisley is here to save us with Sisley Hydrating Body Self Tan ($165 at Sisley) and Sisley Self Tanning Hydrating Facial Skin Care ($180 at Sisley). Not only does this product glide on easily and blend evenly into the skin, it’s also extremely hydrating so your skin will always look luminous and glowy!

Dior Capture Totale Super Potent Serum

We’ve all become victim to spending a little too much time in front of our screens. While it should come as no surprise, these lifestyle habits can have a significant effect on the ageing of our skin. Introducing Dior Capture Totale Super Potent Serum ($145 at Myer); an anti-ageing product that corrects dark spots, reduces the appearance of lines and wrinkles, and brings back your skin’s youthful glow with a formula that’s powered by 91 per cent natural-origin ingredients. Just the product we need!

Even celebrities have at-home remedies for skin issues. Camila Cabello uses egg whites on her face, and here's why.
