Celebs go ALL out for the Met Gala. And while we never know what to expect in the costume department, one thing is certain – the yearly event always provides the most inspirational hairstyles and makeup looks.
The theme for this year’s event was “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination” – and the beauty looks it inspired were next level. From Rihanna’s super smoky eyes to Olivia Munn’s gothic lip and Kate Bosworth’s Renaissance-inspired makeup, here are some of this year’s most EPIC Met Gala beauty looks.
With gold metallic highlights in the inner corners of her eyes, Bella’s peepers took centre stage of her otherwise pared-back makeup look. She teamed the look with a tightly pulled-back and centre-parted braided bun. Oh, and can we just take a minute to appreciate her other-worldly glowing complexion. #skingoals
Kate *literally* looked like a Renaissance painting. Like, seriously. With her dewy peaches-and-cream skin, her frosted eye makeup and sleek centre-parted updo, she absolutely NAILED the brief.
Olivia blessed us with some envious winter beauty inspo, showcasing the ultimate dark berry lipstick. Complemented with golden inner-eye rhinestones, dewy skin and flushed cheeks, her gothic-meets-Cleopatra beauty look was next level.
Rita seriously upped the drama with a spectacular black headpiece and super straight, long glossy blonde hair. Her bright pink lip offset her dark dress and accessories, tying her look together perfectly.
It’s official: This epic floral-embellished braid may just be the most gorgeous hairstyle we have EVER seen. Adorned with roses and gold ribbons, this elegant ‘do was a real show-stopper and one of our favourite looks of the night.
Uh is this Blake’s best red carpet look ever? Donning a jewel crown (the red carpet staple of the evening) and a tousled, swept-up bun, the actress looked like an *actual* princess. Her berry-pink lip and burgundy eyeshadow were utter perfection, tying her regal look together beautifully. On a side note, her dress took 600 hours to make. YEP.
Kim Kardashian never disappoints when it comes to the Met Gala and this year was no exception. She paired her sleek half-up, half-down hairstyle with THE most dramatic smoky eye and black rimmed eyeliner, making her peepers pop on a whole other level.
Hailey’s statement pink hair and floral crown added a colourful statement to her subtle makeup look. She went for a monotone look, matching her hair colour to her lippie and eyeshadow, and even her glistening blush. It was pretty and oh-so-wearable IRL.
Zendaya debuted an auburn bob and unsurprisingly, she looked amazing. Teamed with blunt bangs, the cropped, textured bob is a completelydifferent look for the star. In addition to her major hair change, she opted for matte brown eyeshadow and brushed-up brows to complete her Joan of Arc-inspired vibe.
If you want to see our picks for the most stunning and daring makeup looks from last year’s Met Gala, these were the red carpet’s biggest beauty risk takers.
