Mandy Moore is rocking the latest brunette hair colour trend

The trend takes inspo from your morning coffee
When you hear the phrase caramel mocha, you instinctively think of a super-sweet Starbucks order, not hair – but the latest balayage trend has taken inspiration from the caffeinated beverage in the form of soft caramel highlights with a deep chocolatey base.
Mandy Moore is one celeb who has jumped on the trend early. She was spotted on the This Is Us Emmy press tour with subtle toffee highlights through the lengths of her dark brown hair.
The trend was recently coined by hairstylist Caitlin Duggan of Gloss Color Studio in Upstate New York. In an interview with Allure, Duggan explained, “this color was basically built in two sessions”, utilising traditional balayage techniques. To create the look, she lightens the hair and then colours it with a gloss in a variety of auburns, warm strawberry-toned blondes and peach.
Thinking of trying this sun-kissed brunette hair colour yourself? Duggan recommends asking your colourist “for warmth, richness, and pops of contrast” and returning for a balayage and gloss refresh every 12 weeks. For after-care, she recommends a sulphate-free shampoo, conditioner and heat protectant. “I also love products with UVA and UVB protection.”
This isn’t the first time Mandy has dabbled in the world of balayage. The singer and actress ditched her brunette hair last year for this blonde hair colour.
